Job Description:
L3Harris’ Communication Systems segment is currently seeking a Senior Specialist Systems Engineer to join our team. This position will be based at our Salt Lake City facility.
Position Overview:
The Project Sr. Specialist, Systems Engineer will be responsible for the life-cycle support of protected SATCOM data link systems from conceptual development through product phase-out. This includes proposal support, requirements analysis and management, task planning, technical documentation (including generation of Statements of Work and specifications), design oversight participation, design synthesis in a multi-functional engineering environment, build and test support, subcontract control, risk management input, integration and verification test support, system deployment support and in-house technical support during the operational life-cycle of the system.
Essential Functions:
- Experience working with RF lab test equipment including signal generators, spectrum analyzers and power meters.
- Experience with modem testing/design
- Experience with network analysis tools such as IXIA and Wireshark.
- Experience designing, building, testing and optimizing complex electrical systems.
- Provides extensive systems engineering expertise in a broad field of engineering, research, evaluation and development for highly complex and technical SATCOM, airborne and ground products
- Assists in the planning and conducting of technical projects or portions of projects.
- Assists in the capture and/or management of customer and derived requirements, decomposition and assignment of requirements to appropriate functional areas of responsibility, insuring traceability from a verification test matrix back to original customer and system level derived requirements.
- Provides support to lead engineers in developing technical specifications, interface control documents, test plans and procedures, configuration analysis and processing solutions, and test conformance to specifications.
- Ability to obtain a secret security clearance.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant (Systems/SATCOM) experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 5 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience in product development a plus (preferably in military application environment).
- Experience with type 1 encryption products and cyber security
- Presentation and communication skills (verbal/written/visual).
- Problem solving skills and the ability to meet critical deadlines.
- Understanding in coordination of project(s) and efforts of technical support personnel.
- Ability to productively contribute work, ideas and collaboration as part of a team.
- Active Secret Security Clearance
