Job Description:

The Network Systems Engineer will support the Air Force’s IDHC program.  Their role will require System Engineering life cycle tasks including requirements management, design support, reviews, test development, installation, testing, and on call support for 24/7 operational system.  Experience with configuring Cisco routers & switches is desired. Experience working with SATCOM ground infrastructure desired. Experience working with DOORS for requirement management, Microsoft Visio for drawing development and management, and experience developing and executing system wide testing is desired. Additionally relevant cybersecurity experience in support of RMF processes is desired.  The System Engineer will be required to work well in a team and be capable of meeting quarterly release deadlines. The System engineer will be required to travel 4-5 times per year.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • US DoD Security Clearance: TS/SCI preferred
  • Professional certification specific to the networking industry such as CCNA or equivalent.
  • DoD 8570 Security certification such as Sec+, CISSP, or equivalent.
  • Ability to travel, up to 15%
  • Experience with network device configuration and troubleshooting (ideally, Cisco IOS/IOS-XE)
  • Experience with network design, architecture, specifications, and equipment selection.
  • Experience with IPv4 and IPv6 network design, including IP subnetting and protocols including BGP, OSPF and EIGRP.
  • Strong understanding of features like GRE, IPSEC, DMVPN, GetVPN, IP quality-of-service, VLANs, and multicast.
  • Strong understanding network security features like IP access-lists, stateful protocol inspections, and Next-Gen firewalls.
  • Familiar with network management protocols, like SNMP, SSH, syslog, RADIUS/TACACS
  • Ability to communicate well, including proficiency with MS Office tools, including PowerPoint and Visio
  • Familiar with network management applications, like Splunk, Firepower Management Center (FMC), and/or Cisco ISE.
  • Exposure to the Risk Management Framework, associated security controls, and STIGs.
  • Familiar with Windows, Linux, VMWare, and container configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with HAIPE/TACLANE and other military COMSEC/CRYPTO equipment and procedures.
  • Presentation and communication skills (verbal/written/visual) 
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to meet critical quarterly deadlines
