Job Description:

Sr. Manager-Operations Project Management oversees a team of Project Managers and System Planners (~15 employees) that are responsible for all operational aspects of a portfolio of programs. Supports division VP / General Manager and serves as dotted line leadership on their staff to represent all operations related content for the division. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer contract commitments, internal goals and objectives. Develop and maintain mechanisms for monitoring project progress, intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, supply chain, operations, finance, engineering and contracts.  Primary escalation point of contact for program management, supply chain, operations, finance, engineering and contract leadership within their division portfolio. Represent operations in Sr Executive reviews for their division and ensures all actions are resolved. In short, oversees operational activities at every level of the organization at L3Harris. In addition, their duties will also include hiring, training and maintaining employees that report up to the position. Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong executive presence and ability to present to internal and external Sr leaders

Essential Functions:

  • Strategic Planning and Execution:
    • Develop and implement project management strategies aligned with organizational goals.
    • Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of projects, ensuring they are on time, within scope, and on budget.

    • Demonstrated ability to successfully drive change within a matrixed organization.

    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project managers and other project staff.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment.

    • Allocate resources efficiently across projects to maximize productivity and minimize waste.
    • Ensure the availability of necessary tools, equipment, and personnel.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including senior management, customers, and team members.
    • Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Monitor and manage risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Track project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
    • Prepare and present regular status reports to stakeholders.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Continuously evaluate and improve project management processes and methodologies.
    • Implement best practices and industry standards.
  • Budget Management:
    • Develop and manage project budgets.
    • Monitor expenditures and ensure projects remain financially viable.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure projects meet quality standards and deliverables are of high quality.
    • Implement quality control processes and conduct regular reviews.
  • Change Management:
    • Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs.
    • Ensure change requests are evaluated and approved in a controlled manner.

These functions are critical for a Senior Manager of Project Management in Operations to drive successful project outcomes and contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the organization.

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (MBA will be given extra consideration). Minimum of 12 years’ experience in Operations, Project Management and/or Program Management. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience. 

Previous experience in leadership and people management preferred.
