Job description:

The Quality Assurance Sr. Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of inspectors and lower-level professionals in performing inspections and audits of purchased parts and units. This role requires the ability to interpret manufacturing drawings, diagrams, specifications, and lists to validate the approval or rejection of units. The Sr. Supervisor ensures that support documentation and performance data reviews are properly maintained, and that in-process and finished products meet company standards. Additionally, this role involves determining or assisting in determining inspection methods and procedures, validating product and documentation compliance, and preparing items for customer acceptance and delivery.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Supervise a team of inspectors and lower-level professionals across multiple areas.
  • Communicate with internal and external parties to explain and interpret policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Adjust basic procedures and processes as needed.
  • Plan and establish operational objectives for the team.
  • Apply basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching, and process execution.
  • Collaborate effectively with peers to support business objectives.
  • Ensure the inspection of products in accordance with company workmanship standards, engineering requirements, customer specifications, work instructions, control plans, and other necessary requirements.
  • Maintain control of non-conforming products and accurate records.
  • Analyze processes and problems to develop recommendations that meet customer and internal project requirements.
  • Bring expertise or identify subject matter experts to support multi-functional efforts in process improvement, data capture and analysis, infrastructure support, and compliance with procedures.
  • Identify problems and issues, offering straightforward solutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Basic management skills including work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching, and process execution.
  • Experience working in a team environment to solve problems and balance workloads.
  • Proficient in using the MS Office Suite.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to interface across the organization to achieve effective results.
  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or a 2-year post-secondary/associate’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to inspect products and associated documents in accordance with company workmanship standards, engineering requirements, customer specifications, work instructions, inspection plans, and other necessary requirements.
  • Hands-on experience using gauges such as microscopes, calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, height gauges, scales, and other measuring equipment.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of AS9100/ISO 9001 quality systems.
  • Experience with electronics workmanship standards such as IPC-A-610 and IPC-A-620.
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing, mechanical assemblies, and/or electronic assemblies.
  • Experience with project management, Lean tools, and Six Sigma principles.
