Job Description:

 

L3Harris is seeking talented Software Engineers ready to build foundational systems within our System Software group. Our team specializes in developing robust, scalable solutions that integrate advanced communications technologies across multiple mission-critical platforms. This is an opportunity to tackle deep technical challenges and define the core software architecture supporting major defense and intelligence operations.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Knowledge and experience of embedded real-time software development (VxWorks/Linux)
  • Work closely with cross-functional team members to develop operational performance requirements, interface software and hardware components, and collaborate on system design
  • Support and participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and formal testing
  • Contribute to software test plans, procedures, and other relevant technical documentation
  • Demonstrates depth of knowledge in programming languages, compilers, and application execution
  • Participate in peer reviews, identify, track and repair defects
  • Utilize a variety of software languages on Windows, Linux and embedded real time operating systems
  • Occasional customer support travel (5%)

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Demonstrated expertise with high-performance, multi-threaded programming concepts
  • Deep knowledge of multiple programming languages, compilers, and application execution techniques across various platforms.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technical domains outside the core discipline
  • Advanced proficiency in C++ and demonstrable knowledge of modern object-oriented design principles.
  • Experience with hands-on software development and troubleshooting on embedded targets utilizing an RTOS (Real-Time Operating System).
  • Advanced knowledge of signal processing, control systems theory, or networking fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of protocols such as IP, UDP, TCP, IPSec, DDS, SNMP, etc.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
  • Solid presentation and writing skills
  • Previous professional experience working within the Department of Defense (DoD) or intelligence community.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance
