Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Facilities Mechanical Engineer and Project Manager to join our dynamic team. This role is responsible for the design and implementation of the HVAC and mechanical systems within our facilities, with a hands-on approach to ensure optimal performance, energy efficiency, and compliance with all relevant codes and standards.
Essential Functions:
- Plans, designs and oversees the reconfiguration, maintenance, construction and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, structures, and other facilities.
- Creates construction drawings, project specifications, and statements of work for contractor bidding.
- Estimates project budgets and seeks funding approvals.
- Manages projects from inception to completion with project management framework and updates stakeholders.
- Coordinates with architectural, engineering firms, and other consultants for preparation of project documents.
- Oversees the construction, installation, and implementation to ensure conformance to drawings, budget, schedule, and specifications.
- Collaborates with partnered contractors to perform software enhancements to building operating systems and facility tracking software.
- Coordinates with internal trades to complete facility projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Proficient in CAD (AutoCAD or Revit)
- MS Project or other scheduling software
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in HVAC design and oversite
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and building automation
- Proficiency in HVAC design software and load calculations
- Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and track scope, cost, and schedule through project lifecycle
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong knowledge in sizing mechanical facility equipment—chillers, pumps, motors etc.
- Ability to obtain / maintain a Secret clearance
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Familiarity with HVAC industry standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, etc.).
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
