Job Description:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for technical and administrative support of multiple Manufacturing and Test groups (Antenna, Radio Frequency Equipment, Small Modem, and Commercial Products teams) within Operations. Direct responsibilities include providing engineering support for these products from conceptual development and prototyping through initial and full rate production, product phase-out and Maintenance, Repair, and Overall (MRO). This includes design reviews and approvals, engineering change approvals, master manufacturing process creation and maintenance, continuous improvement activities, requirements analysis/management, task planning, technical project management assistance, build support, test support, and root cause/corrective action.
Essential Functions:
- Reviewing design requirements, drawings, and parts lists for manufacturability
- Create processes to meet design and workmanship requirements
- Evaluate tooling needs and availability
- Reviews problem reports; make improvements and corrections to process as warranted
- Provide input on Engineering Changes Requests; implement changes into processes
- Determine root cause of failures and drive corrective actions
- Collects and analyzes quality related data and offers corrective action(s) to help eliminate future defects from occurring
- Participates in process improvement activities
- Train production personnel in new or existing operations
- Writes and updates workmanship standards
- Provide input on engineering specifications
- Support OT (nights, weekends, extended hours) as needed to meet schedule requirements
- Ensures company financial goals are met through timely completion of processes, projects, and other initiatives
- Works on-site in support of manufacturing team
- Support a culture of continuous improvement, “Right the First Time”, Safety First, audit ready, and Policy & Security compliance
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Systems Engineering preferred
- BS degrees that are ABET-EAC accredited
- Advanced communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong technical, analytical, and critical thinking / reasoning skills.
- Experience with logistics/production process flows/factory floor layout
- Understanding of all aspects of DoD development and program lifecycle: Design, Implementation, Verification, Production and Sustainment.
- Strong technical SAP ME, SAP ECC and Teamcenter experience.
