Job Schedule: 9/80- Employees work 9 out of every 14 days – totaling 80 hours worked – and have every other Friday off
Job Description:
- Verifies quantity, weight, and conformance of materials to stated identifications and shipping requirements.
- Logs shipments into programs used in the shipping department.
- Operates power forklifts and pallet jacks
- Packages materials and accessories, and marks items with proper numbers and labels.
- Stacks and locates packaged material for later shipment
- Operates packing machinery to properly protect material
- Coordinates with transportation companies, and uses all carrier-related computer programs
- Follows shipping practices and procedures, and transportation routing, schedules and requirements
- Some carpentry experience required. This will be used to build crates, pallets and other wooden items that may be shipped around the world.
- Must be able to lift and move 30+ pound packages.
Required Qualifications:
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
Additional Skills
- Proficient computer skills (e.g.: interfacing with inventory control systems, spreadsheets, data entry systems, etc.)
- Ability to walk, stand, bend and lift for long periods of time
- Supporting government audits
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Basic computer skills are essential
- Good written and verbal communication skills both within the group as well as assisting customers on the phone and in-person
- Must be able to lift and move 30+ pound packages repeatedly
- Minimum of 4 years of prior, relevant experience
- Minimum of 4 years professional experience reading and understanding dimension/packaging requirements
- Minimum of 4 years professional experience with packaging material required
- Minimum of 1 year professional experience building custom crates, pallets and other wooden items for long distance shipping, utilizing basic carpentry and custom wood working skills.
- Applicants with shipping experience in a military environment, packaging per military requirements are very encouraged to apply.
- Experience with custom built crates, pallets and other wooden items that may be shipped around the world.
- FedEx, UPS and other freight carrier software.
