About the Role:

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Interplant Transportation Specialist to join our team. This position is responsible for the efficient and timely movement of products around our facility using box trucks and vans. The candidate will also be responsible for delivering packages to various docks, ensuring smooth and seamless logistics operations. Experience operating Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) or forklifts and using pallet jacks is required. Candidates must also be able to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate box trucks and vans to transport products within the facility and to various docks.
  • Load and unload products, ensuring they are handled with care and properly secured for transport.
  • Operate PITs or forklifts to move and organize products as needed.
  • Use pallet jacks to assist with loading and unloading activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries and pickups, including time of delivery, recipient details, and condition of packages.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections to ensure trucks and vans are in safe working condition, and report any maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.
  • Perform routine checks and maintenance on PITs, forklifts, and pallet jacks.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures during transportation and while operating vehicles and equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments and personnel to coordinate timely deliveries and pickups.
  • Assist in the organization and storage of inventory within the transportation department.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, and comply with federal and state transportation and safety regulations.

 

Required Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent with 0 to 3 years of prior related experience.
    • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
    • Must be able to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

    • Proven experience operating box trucks, vans, PITs, forklifts, and using pallet jacks, preferably in a logistics or transportation role.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • Ability to lift and carry heavy packages as required.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others.
    • Attention to detail and a commitment to safety and accuracy.
    • Familiarity with transportation and logistics software is a plus.
    • Experience operating box truck, PIT, forklift, pallet jack is a plus.

 

Physical Requirement:

    • Ability to lift, move, push and carry heavy packages /pallets regularly.
    • Ability to drive for extended periods.
    • Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to operate equipment and vehicles safely.
    • The role may involve standing, walking, and climbing ladders for extended periods.

 

Work Environment:

  • This position requires working both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in extreme temperatures.        
  • Must be available for on-call duty and respond to transportation emergencies outside of regular working hours rotating through group setting.
