Job Description:
L3Harris Spectrum Superiority division in Salt Lake City is seeking an experienced EMI/EMC Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in testing, troubleshooting, and documenting results for state-of-the-art products including modems, power supplies, antennas, and communications equipment, supporting all branches of the military and our warfighters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and calibrate test hardware and instrumentation in accordance with MIL-STD-461 standards
- Perform EMI/EMC testing, both conducted and radiated, as specified by MIL-STD-461
- Accurately record, document, and communicate all test progression, results, and findings
- Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans, procedures, and reports, including documentation of anomalies and troubleshooting activities
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of EMI testing standards, procedures, and instrumentation
- Lead EMI testing activities and assist in troubleshooting system and subsystem issues
- Collaborate with project teams and customers throughout the testing process, assisting with troubleshooting and development modifications as needed
- Prepare detailed EMI Test Reports and other supporting documentation
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (current clearance preferred)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering Technology, or related field, plus 3–5 years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Hands-on experience conducting EMI/EMC tests and assembling/troubleshooting EMI/EMC test setups
- Familiarity with EMI test software (e.g., TILE), EMI shield rooms/chambers, and their maintenance
- Solid understanding of MIL-STD-461, with emphasis on testing requirements
- Knowledge of commercial and military EMI/EMC specifications (e.g., FCC, CE-Mark, RTCA DO-160, UK DEF-STAN 59-41)
- Working understanding of electromagnetic theory, radiated and conducted emissions, EMI/EMC susceptibility, and lightning effects
- iNARTE certification as an EMI Technician is a plus
- Skilled in using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, receivers, signal generators, RF amplifiers, antennas, EMI current probes, and LISNs
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
