Description

We are currently seeking a qualified Mechanical Design Engineer. Successful candidates will be members of a highly motivated, multi-disciplined, cross-functional hardware design and analysis team.  Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Electromechanical packaging, design, analysis, and test for harsh and rugged environments

  • Modification of existing and/or creation of new designs including racks, shelters, enclosures, airborne, shipborne, and rack-mount chassis, and circuit card assemblies (CCAs)

  • Ensure new designs progress according to technical objectives, within budgetary and schedule constraints

  • Assist in specification creation, the proposal process, and presentations to customers or management

 

Qualifications

  • To be eligible, applicants must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or have completed their Bachelor’s degree within the last 12 months, regardless of age. 

  • Proficient in CAD and drafting standards, or 2+ years relevant experience.  (Siemens’ NX, preferred.)

  • Working knowledge with FEA theory and application for thermal and structural anlaysis of electronics.  (ANSYS experience preferred)

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal) are necessary.

  • Experience with environmental testing, ie. shock, random vibration, temperature/altitude, Environmental Stress Screening (ESS).

  • Experience with GD&T, tolerance analysis, and ASME drawing practices and standards. 

  • Proficient with electronics cooling methods and strong background in heat transfer (conduction, convection, radiation) applied to electronics packaging and reliability

  • Design experience with Open Standards: VITA, VME, PMC and mixed signal board design (RF and Digital) is preferred

  • Experience with additive and traditional manufacturing methods is a must. 

  • Must be available to work overtime and weekends when required

  • Strong work ethic; maintain a sense of urgency to ensure obligations are met
