Job Description:
We are seeking an Apprentice Plumber/Mechanical Facilities Technician that will assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems in commercial and residential buildings. This role is designed for individuals who are in the process of gaining the skills and experience necessary to become a licensed plumber. The apprentice will work under the supervision of experienced plumbers and facilities technicians, ensuring that all plumbing systems are functioning efficiently and in compliance with local codes and regulations.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing/mechanical systems including pipes, fixtures, and water heaters.
- Learn to interpret blueprints and building specifications to map layout for pipes, drainage systems, and other plumbing materials.
- Support the inspection of plumbing systems to identify issues and ensure compliance with safety and building codes.
- Help in diagnosing and resolving plumbing problems such as leaks, clogged drains, and faulty fixtures.
- Participate in the installation of new plumbing systems in construction and retrofit projects.
- Assist in the maintenance of plumbing tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Attend and participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance plumbing skills and knowledge.
- Use the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to schedule and track the completion of on-demand, emergency, and preventive maintenance work orders.
- Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with clients and team members.
- Ability to respond to maintenance calls including evenings and weekends, as part of an on-call rotation.
- This position requires working both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in extreme temperatures.
- The role may involve standing, walking, and climbing ladders for extended periods.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent and minimum 3 years of related experience
Associate degree or apprenticeship program enrollment and 0-2 years of related experience.
Valid driver’s license
Preferred Additional Skills:
Experience with commercial plumbing and mechanical technologies and systems.
Able to assist with plumbing, mechanical, electrical and HVAC equipment.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints
