Job Description:
The Specialist, General Ledger Accounting will report to the Senior Manager, General Leger Accounting and will be part of the team responsible for providing rapid and high-quality financial information. This position addresses a multitude of accounting activities including monthly general ledger and overhead closings, balance sheet and income statement flux analysis, quarterly review and year-end audit preparation and SOX process narratives and walk-throughs under tight close and reporting deadlines.
Essential Functions:
- 40% - Performs professional accounting activities. Applies principles of accounting to prepare, reconcile and analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital to ensure the accurate delivery of financial reports. Performs monthly financial close and analysis functions, prepares entries to G/L accounts, and is responsible for the preparation of account reconciliation, accruals, and analysis.
- 15% - Performs monthly reporting, including variance and ad hoc analyses, ensuring that all financial information is presented clearly, consistently, and on time.
- 15% - Prepares and provides support for audit requests from external, internal and DCAA auditors.
- 15% - Evaluates SOX process documentation and supports the annual SOX walkthrough and testing efforts. Recommends and performs process improvements and corrective actions.
- 15% - Supports Finance management with special projects and process improvements as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior accounting experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior accounting experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior accounting experience.

- Independent, self-motivated individual with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects, able to prioritize to meet critical deadlines, and focus on work product quality and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with hands on approach to process improvement and effective problem resolution.
- Advanced skills in Excel, including pivot table and lookup functionality
- Experience with Oracle ERP system
- MBA or CPA
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California is $71,500 - $132,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as a final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
