Job Description:

 

L3Harris is seeking a highly skilled Lead Supplier Quality Engineer to support a critical strategic supplier and serve as the Supplier Quality Lead for Supply Chain Strategy across composites, EPDM elastomers, phenolic materials, and specialty chemicals. This role requires a hands‑on quality engineer with deep technical expertise in aerospace materials and manufacturing processes, and a proven ability to drive proactive risk mitigation and performance improvement at large, complex suppliers.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Serve as the Supplier Quality Lead for an Integrated Supplier Team supporting a critical, high‑risk supplier.
  • Provide technical and strategic leadership for supplier quality performance, including quality planning, risk management, and continuous improvement.
  • Use structured, data‑driven methodologies and statistical tools to strengthen supplier manufacturing capability, reduce variation, and prevent defects.
  • Develop and execute supplier engagement strategies to ensure quality is embedded during capacity expansion and production ramp‑up.
  • Apply advanced quality engineering principles throughout the supplier lifecycle.
  • Assess supplier manufacturing processes, quality systems, and technical capability to meet missile production requirements.
  • Conduct supplier risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to prevent quality escapes and supply disruptions.
  • Develop supplier quality plans, process controls, and inspection strategies.
  • Participate in MRB, change review boards, and configuration control activities.
  • Lead complex supplier investigations and ensure effective Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR) closure.
  • Develop and execute Return‑to‑Green and continuous improvement plans to elevate supplier performance.
  • Serve as Supplier Quality Lead for Supply Chain Strategy by providing technical expertise to:
    • Evaluate and qualify new suppliers to increase capacity and resilience
    • Lead early supplier engagement to ensure manufacturability and robust quality planning
    • Support capability development and process improvements to meet long‑term production growth

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 9 years of prior related quality experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related quality experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related quality experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Direct manufacturing and operational expertise in composites, EPDM elastomers, phenolic materials, or specialty chemicals.
  • Demonstrated experience managing quality performance for strategic, high‑risk, or highly technical suppliers.
  • Experince qualifying and developing new suppliers
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace quality standards including AS9100, AS9102, and AS9145.
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a cross‑functional, fast‑paced environment.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
  • Previous MRB experience
  • Experience supporting missile systems or defense aerospace programs

 

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $116,500 - $216,500. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, and Vermont is $101,500 - $188,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
