At L3Harris Tactical Communications, you will have the opportunity to research, plan, organize, write, and edit operations, maintenance, and software manuals among other documentation. Our witty, collaborative writing team is responsible for developing topic-based, modular product support content that allows for dynamic publishing in a timely and effective manner.

We’re looking for someone with a passion for technology, a knack for research and analysis, interest in project management, and the ability to develop relationships with subject-matter experts.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Write technical documents for tactical communication products for effective end-user operation, programming, maintenance, installation, and testing
  • Collaborate with engineers, product analysts, product line managers, and program managers to learn about specific products, processes, and programs
  • Performs research as required to understand products or associated technology
  • Manage writing projects: hosts kickoff and status meetings, sets timelines and deadlines, communicate with project team
  • Work with illustrator to create diagrams, charts, and other visual aids to assist users in understanding a product or process
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to develop personal skills, team and process effectiveness, and product enhancement

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years prior experience, 2 year post-secondary/AA Degree and 6 years prior experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Military Communications experience highly desirable
  • Excellent eye for detail (if there's a typo to be found, you’ll find it)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing
  • Affinity for problem solving and a love for trouble shooting, both independently and collaboratively
  • Experience with topic-based authoring
  • Experience deciphering and utilizing source data from multiple sources, subject matter experts, and skill levels
  • Ability to learn new concepts/technologies in a short time frame; including complex systems consisting of networked products
  • Mechanical aptitude; ability to disassemble/reassemble equipment and write remove/replace procedures
  • Instructional Design experience
  • Experience developing Technical Manuals per MIL-STD-40051
  • Experience developing courseware per TRADOC PAM 350-70
  • Experience developing Training Data Products per MIL-PRF-29612

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Colorado State, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Vermont and New York State is $50,000- $100,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
