Job Description:
The senior specialist embedded software engineer designs, develops and extensively tests complex engineering solutions for advanced tactical radio operating system and waveform software. Works to achieve operational targets with direct impact on the departmental results. Works closely with cross-functional members of the engineering organization to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and operational performance requirements and design of the overall system. Participates in all phases of the software development life cycle.
Essential Functions:
- Proficient with embedded C/C++, object-oriented design, real-time, multi-threaded programming
- Experience with real-time operating systems (e.g. VxWorks RTOS, Linux, QNX)
- Ability to quickly analyze and understand large and complex existing software systems
- Ability to develop software test procedures, software programs, and related documentation
- Ability to identify, track, and repair software defects
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Ability to clearly and succinctly convey information and ideas
- Contributes to the development of goals for the department and planning efforts
- Ability to Obtain a US Security Clearance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience in Embedded Software Engineering.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with Git/Bitbucket
- Experience with continuous integration (e.g. Jenkins)
- Experience with the Agile methodology
- Experience with wireless networking software system design and development
- Proficient with DSP and RF concepts and technology
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York State is $93,500 - $173,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
