Job Description:

Do you have a passion for writing and appreciate the process of instructional design? Do you excel at understanding complex and technical concepts and translating them for any audience? The L3Harris Mission Critical Communications Multimedia Training Team has a unique opportunity for a training content writer to develop innovative and customer-focused multimedia products for L3Harris’ end users and employees.

The multimedia content writer is the bridge between technical experts and those early in the learning life cycle. The writer will work closely with subject matter experts, instructional designers, graphic designers, and developers to collect technical information, explain learning points, and create use-case scenarios for interactive learning experiences and videos.

Candidates should have experience in informative writing, including developing video scripts, and a flair for writing about technical content in a conversational tone. The successful candidate will also have an inventive spirit, sense of humor, and a strong track record of effective teamwork. Creativity and dedication to enhancing learner experience is a must.

Essential Functions:

• Consult with team members, internal customers, and subject matter experts to create video scripts, elearning lessons, and other copy for engaging end-user training products
• Transform complex technical concepts into easily understood topics, examples, and scenarios
• Collaborate with instructional and graphic designers to bring learning content to life
• Work with the Multimedia team to develop new and inventive ways of applying visual design, animation and graphic design to achieve learning goals and promote engagement, and deliver world-class customer support

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, English, technology, engineering, or a related field
• At least 4 years of professional experience

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Proficiency in writing about technical concepts for audiences with a variety of educational and cultural backgrounds
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and utilize input from multiple sources, subject matter experts, and skill levels
• Familiarity with tactical communication and military operations a plus but not necessary.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York state [$63,500 - $117,500]. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
