Job Description:
The Assembly, Integration and Test Focus factory for L3Harris is seeking a highly motivated Test Engineer to join the Chamber Operations group. This position is part of a team of subject matter experts in vacuum engineering test systems to provide support to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity associated with the design and test of complex optical-sensing spaceflight hardware.
Essential Functions:
- In this role you will directly support preparation of the test environment or facilitate the design of tests with program representatives.
- You are a contributor to Test Readiness Reviews, as well as responsible for reviewing and validating test results against requirements.
- You will be directly supporting engineering technicians to conduct tests safely and per procedure and will have a working knowledge of the various thermal/vacuum chambers and their capabilities and be able to communicate relevant specifications to internal and external customers.
- Ultimately you will deliver thoroughly tested aerospace products, equipment and systems with supporting documentation to the customer (internal and external) complying with specifications and production requirements.
- Willing to work overtime, shift work (nights) or extended shifts, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Willing to travel, up to 10% of time
- Proficient with MS Office-Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Ability to obtain US Government security clearance
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Self-starter, working with limited supervision once acclimated to role.
- Able to support multiple projects in various stages of readiness.
- Knowledge of high reliability, aerospace products test and verification.
- Willing and able to work in a clean room environment, up to and including full clean room suit.
- Strong communicator, written and verbal communication a must within and outside of function.
- Ability to develop and execute procedures, document results, effectively communicate orally and in writing with moderate oversite.
- Able to generate detailed technical reports, data reduction for requirement verification with moderate oversite.
- Experience with contamination control processes and mitigation
- Experience working in a clean room with ESD and contamination sensitive flight hardware
- Experience in an Electrical/Mechanical/Optical disciplines in the Aerospace or Defense industry
- Familiar with Microsoft VISIO or Project
- Experience with Facilities/Maintenance practices
- Current SSBI with Polygraph
- Experience with data acquisition systems
- Supporting software knowledge such as LabVIEW or Matlab
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York State is $75,500 - $140,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
