This role is responsible for planning, developing, and executing verification and validation activities for complex integrated systems, including advanced networking technologies, in representative mission and operational scenarios. Responsibilities include bench-top validation of hardware, software, and system-of-systems implementations; development of test architectures, tools, automation, and methodologies to enable rigorous product and system qualification; and identification and implementation of innovative solutions that support release readiness, often supplementing or replacing field validation where technically appropriate. The position requires thorough evaluation of system performance, interfaces, interoperability, and mission effectiveness to ensure products and systems are qualified for deployment and meet customer, program, and quality requirements.

Essential Functions:

  • Designing and configuring lab-based test environments to accurately emulate operational, mission, and field conditions for product and system qualification.
  • Identifying, creating, and implementing test tools, automation frameworks, scripts, and innovative validation methods to improve coverage, repeatability, efficiency, and technical rigor
  • Performing integration, regression, stress, negative, and troubleshooting test activities to characterize system behavior, identify defects, and assess release readiness
  • Collaborating with systems, software, and hardware engineering and field test team members to ensure bench-top validation effectively supplements or, where appropriate, replaces field validation
  • Refining team procedures, practices, and collection and reporting of performance data to ensure continuous improvement in the execution of tests.
  • May also include occasionally supporting new business pursuit activities including demos, proposals, generation of applications info (e.g. diagrams, write-ups, etc.), and/or occasional travel and/or customer interaction to support these activities.
  • Candidates should be aware that additional requirements associated with conducting on-air testing of tactical radios also may apply.  These include working outside in virtually all-weather conditions applicable to the Rochester, NY area and other physical requirements such as occasional lifting and installing equipment and working in and around vehicles.  Driving L3Harris vehicles is a requirement of the job.

Qualifications:

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Some familiarity with RF communications and propagation.

  • Ability to support multiple projects at one time.
  • Prior military or professional communications experience including radio operation and/or repair/troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Tactical Communications technologies and applications.
