Job Description:
This position serves as a Scientist, Integration and Test Engineer responsible for leading, planning, and executing test operations across a portfolio of Airborne Imaging EO/IR programs. The role provides operations leadership, technical oversight, and strategic coordination to ensure successful integration, verification, and validation of complex military imaging products. We are seeking an experienced Test Engineer with a strong electrical engineering foundation and solid software development background. This position also manages a team of engineers and partners closely with engineering, manufacturing, and program management to deliver high‑quality mission hardware on schedule, will be responsible for analyzing Units Under Test (UUTs), developing test strategies, creating test cases, and implementing fault detection and fault isolation testing. This role will also include developing test set software and supporting the design of Interface Test Adapters (ITAs).
Essential Functions:
- Lead the planning, execution, and optimization of integration and test operations across multiple programs supporting Airborne Imaging Technologies.
- Develop enterprise‑wide test strategies, test plans, verification approaches, and integration roadmaps in collaboration with Program Management and Engineering.
- Support business pursuits and proposals, including contributing to technical proposal reviews and Basis of Estimate (BOE) development as required.
- Serve as the primary test operations interface for internal leadership and external customers on all integration and test matters.
- Track program performance, risks, resources, and milestones related to integration and test operations, ensuring timely communication and mitigation planning.
- Oversee day‑to‑day activities of the Integration and Test Engineering team, ensuring alignment to program objectives, technical accuracy, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Coordinate test readiness, integration sequences, and test campaigns, ensuring proper configuration management and technical discipline throughout all phases.
- Partner with cross‑functional teams to resolve issues impacting integration or test execution schedules.
- Develop test requirements, test procedures, and detailed test cases for electrical and electronic systems.
- Ability to interpret system‑level requirements and translate them into actionable integration and test strategies.
- Ability to obtain a US Secret security clearance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Optical Engineering or a related technical field and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Optical Engineering or a related technical field and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
- Minimum 1 year experience with Earned Value Management processes and variance reporting.
- Minimum 1 year experience leading integration and test activities for military avionics systems.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with automated test equipment, data acquisition, and instrumentation.
- Familiarity with LabVIEW, LabWindows CVI, Python, C, C++, Rust and other scripting or programming languages.
- Experience with optical systems design & test.
- Experience in Aerospace, Defense and Depot Level Maintenance, or other regulated engineering environments.
- Knowledge of requirements-based testing and formal verification processes and Fault insertion demonstrations.
- Experience supporting production test, depot test, or maintenance test environments.
- Experience developing test solutions for electronic or electromechanical systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical circuits, signals, instrumentation, and troubleshooting methods.
- Software development experience in test environments.
- Video transport and encoding (H.264, MISB and SMPTE standards).
- Experience with VDATS or similar automated test systems.
- Ability to analyze UUT behavior and create effective fault isolation and diagnostic tests.
- Experience designing or supporting ITAs, test fixtures, cable assemblies, or interface hardware.
- Background in developing or executing verification and validation plans for hardware involving environmental testing, functional testing, or safety or flight/air worthiness processes.
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, optical and software subsystems commonly used in military avionics subsystems and how they interact during integration.
- Familiarity with enterprise‑level test operations, including multi‑program coordination, shared test infrastructure, and cross‑program process alignment.
- Experience establishing and managing test facilities, ground support equipment, or specialized test assets used for military systems integration.
- Strong capability in root‑cause analysis and leading resolution of issues discovered during integration or test execution.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, Cleveland Ohio, Vermont and Virginia is $126,500 - $235,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
