Job Description:

 

This person will contribute to the company’s success by supporting PCB layout design activities to support the development of the most advanced radio communication equipment in the world for the military and first responders. The PCB Designer will effectively utilize design software deployed at L3Harris to create, modify, review, and validate PCB designs for rigid, flexible, and rigid-flex printed circuit boards.  They will utilize the latest board technologies.  This role reports to the PCB Design Manager.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Utilize Mentor PADS layout software to incorporate schematic, mechanical, and manufacturing inputs into new and revised PCB designs.
  • Collaborate with the cross-functional design team to resolve fabrication, assembly, and test issues identified through Valor NPI fabrication and manufacturing checks.
  • Create standard and complex PCB layouts leveraging design methodologies by board technology, e.g., RF, digital, analog, power supply.
  • Create and update design files and documentation to incorporate changes to schematic, BOMs, detail drawings, etc., maintaining proper PLM file structure.
  • Create PCB stackups and model controlled impedance.
  • Perform peer reviews of complex PCB layout designs.
  • Create and maintain PCB layout design guidelines.
  • Support the assessment and implementation of new and upgraded PCB design software.
  • Create and improve checklists and procedures associate with the PCB layout design process.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 6 years or prior relevant PCB design experience.Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related PCB design experience.  In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related PCB design experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Knowledge of the PCB design value chain: schematics, materials, fabrication, assembly, and related design and simulation software tools.
  • Knowledge of the PCB design elements: schematic, BOM, mechanical, fabrication, assembly, components, and all related files and documentation
  • Experience working directly with multiple engineering disciplines and functions, e.g., electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, supply chain, purchasing, etc.
  • Experience with PCB design software, e.g., PADS, Xpedition, Cadence, Valor, etc.
  • Experience with peer reviews of PCB layout designs.

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $76,500 - $142,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
