Job Description:
The Engineer will support the Network Simulation (Netsim) and Analysis team in the sustainment and development of L3Harris’ proprietary development platform. The candidate will provide technical support both the Netsim team and its direct customers, local and remote engineering teams. Strong communication and interpersonal skills coupled with the ability work within a mixed engineering team are required. The successful candidate must be able to support the development and build of the test platforms while understanding complex RF and networking systems that make up the solution.
This role requires strong leadership and teamwork skills. The candidate will be expected to lead technology initiatives beyond their own core technical specialty, relying on team members from other specific disciplines as required.
The candidate will also work collaboratively with Chief Engineers across the engineering organization as well as with other Communications Systems sectors to focus on the development of Netsim System solutions, adhering to all aspects of System Engineering process compliance including, but not limited to, process artifact review and approval and Risk Management/Analysis
Essential Functions:
- Perform networking system design activities for Communication Products and Systems of Products.
- Serve as one of the technical point-of-contact for Netsim environment.
- Work to maintain up-to-date test environments
- Prepare and conduct technical briefings as needed.
- Prepare and participate in technical baseline reviews.
- Oversee product development technical activities and system integration activities to assure designs are technically sound and meet system level requirements.
- Collaborate with other design, test, manufacturing, product service, program and product management teams, providing responsive services as part of the Netsim Team.
- Engagement in project post-mortem reviews to assess future process improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
- Experience with user requirements analysis
- Experience with LAN routing/switching protocols and standards
- Experience in Linux operating systems
- RF and System Level Troubleshooting
- Experience mechanical and soldering skills
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Active US DoD Secret Clearance or Ability to obtain a US DoD Secret Clearance
- Degree in Engineering or another STEM discipline
- Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated self-starter - efficient in achieving goals and proactive in pursuing subsequent tasks.
- Proven team leadership skills, providing the technical voice for a project, program, or pursuit.
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, ability to interact with a cross functional team and act as customer interface for technical aspects.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York State is $108,500 - $201,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
