Job Description:

The Project Engineering Lead will be responsible for developing the TCOM Cable Center of Excellence (CoE). The Cable CoE will work closely with the Director of Mechanical Engineering and initial responsibilities will involve a detailed review of the current cable design/procurement process to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement. Long term goals will be setting standards to streamline and standardize the cable development process to eliminate inefficiencies, improve quality and reduce cost.

Essential Functions:

  • Evaluate existing L3Harris TCOM cable design/procurement process and identify gaps and opportunities to improve
  • Develop design and process metrics related to cables
  • Identify team needs and map out staffing plan required to execute the launch of the Cable Center of Excellence team
  • Prepare and present business case to the L3Harris TCOM senior leadership team in support of building a dedicated team focused on the cable commodity.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Experience leading a process improvement and/or new process development project.
  • Experience with cable design and/or fabrication.
  • Experience working cross functionally with other discpilines such as supply chain, quality, and engineering.
  • Project management experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with data mining within a PDM system (i.e. Agile).
  • Experience in the application of Lean Six-Sigma tools (i.e. DMAIC methodology, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Value-Stream Mapping) to identify and mitigate risks, aiming to enhance quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction through a data-driven approach.
  • Background in an engineering capacity. 
  • Excellent communications skills with experience in preparing and presenting cost/benefit analyses to justify investing into tools and resources required to implement a successful, new process.
  • Experience in working with suppliers to understand their needs and limitations within their area of expertise.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office tools especially Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York State is $108,500 - $201,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
