Job Description:

This is a Level 3 Integration and Test Engineering position reporting to the Test Engineering Manager for SATCOM.  This position offers candidates an opportunity to join a fantastic team of engineering professionals who take a collaborative and team focused approach to developing and solving complex system solutions for our end customers in support of mission critical needs.  As a Level 3 Integration and Test Engineer, the individual shall be recognized as an experienced professional with a strong knowledge base across multiple job functions.  Candidates shall be able to communicate within and outside the engineering organization and influence changes to best practices, processes, policies, and engineering approaches which shall impact the overall achievements and success of TCOM engineering and the SATCOM business segment. 

Essential Functions:

  • The ability to perform hands on SATCOM product line manufacturing and system level troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with Radio Frequency (RF) system and component level testing.
  • Familiarity and ability to use test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters, signal generators, etc.
  • The ability to support Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) system integration and test procedure development.
  • Ability to perform work with general oversight towards annual SATCOM integration and test product goals and objectives.
  • Provide customer support of technical issues on fielded systems and units. 
  • Ability to work within large cross-functional teams (mechanical, software, electrical, test engineering, etc.) to achieve product line integration and test objectives, as well as specific program deliverables.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills. 
  • Areas of focus would include, but are not limited to, the following:
    • Development and release of system level test procedures and reports.
    • Assist with the development and release of First Article Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) procedures.
    • Assist with the development and release of service bulletins in support of fielded SATCOM products.
    • Ability to interact, evaluate, and respond to customer needs.
  • Recommend and provide input into new product development, processes, and engineering standards that shall impact the success of the SATCOM business.
  • Willing and able to research, learn, and implement new areas of knowledge and tools in such areas as mechanical, electrical, software, and RF engineering.
  • Provides guidance and mentoring to other engineering employees within area of expertise. 
  • Up to 10% travel may be required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, Software, or Systems Engineering (or Engineering Technology)
  • Experience with SATCOM VSAT and Man Portable (Manpack) Terminals.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with SATCOM systems, both End-to-End and single terminal side, RF networking and systems, wired networking, MIL-STD data links, and modems.  Common modem types with preferred experience are iDirect, Comtech, Linkabit MPMs, and Viasat.
  • Experience and familiarity with working directly with customers and vendors.
  • Experience with bill of materials (BOM) development and structuring.
  • Experience with and the ability to perform hands on SATCOM system level troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Experience and familiarity with LabVIEW and/or TestStand.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York State is $75,500 - $140,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
