Job Description:
Serve as the senior Program Planning & Scheduling functional leader for the Space Sector, providing technical direction, workforce leadership, and functional oversight across a large portfolio of programs and scheduling professionals. This role is the senior scheduling subject matter expert and advisor to Sector Program Management and business leadership on schedule strategy, execution, risk, forecasting, Earned Value Management (EVM), and integrated program performance. The position is responsible for driving consistent scheduling standards, practices, tools, analytical methods, and quality expectations across the Sector. It also strengthens integration between schedule, cost, EVM, technical performance, risk, supply chain, and resource information while supporting complex program activities including baselines, replans, proposals, recoveries, schedule risk assessments, and independent reviews. The role also leads development of the scheduling discipline through mentoring, workforce planning, succession planning, training, certification, and career development, while representing the Space Sector scheduling function in broader enterprise initiatives.
Essential Functions:
• Provide senior technical and functional leadership for the Space Sector scheduling organization supporting multiple programs and scheduling teams
• Establish and reinforce Sector-wide scheduling standards, best practices, analytical methods, and schedule quality expectations
• Advise senior leadership on schedule performance, critical-path drivers, forecast credibility, EVM indicators, schedule risk, and recovery strategies
• Lead complex scheduling activities including baselines, replans, proposals, schedule risk assessments, independent reviews, and recovery planning
• Strengthen integration of schedule, EVM/cost, technical performance, risk, supply chain, and resource information
• Drive effective use of scheduling tools, enterprise analytics, and digital capabilities to improve schedule quality, visibility, and decision support
• Lead workforce planning for the scheduling function including staffing strategy, resource balancing, succession planning, capability development, and identification of critical skill gaps
• Provide functional leadership, mentoring, coaching, and technical development to Schedule Managers, senior schedulers, and emerging leaders
• Partner with Sector Program Management and program leadership to align scheduling capability with business priorities and program execution needs
• Identify systemic schedule-performance issues and trends across the Sector portfolio and lead corrective actions and process improvements
• Represent the Space Sector scheduling function in cross-Sector, Segment, and enterprise planning and scheduling initiatives
• Influence development of organizational policies, processes, standards, tools, and operating practices affecting Program Planning and Scheduling
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience; Or, Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience; Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 19 years of prior related experience
• 10 plus years of experience in Program Planning and Scheduling supporting large, complex programs or portfolios
• Advanced knowledge of Integrated Master Schedule development, maintenance, execution, critical-path analysis, forecasting, and schedule performance analysis
• Strong working knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVMS) and the integration of schedule, cost, technical performance, risk, and program execution data
Preferred Additional Skills:
• Experience leading complex scheduling activities such as baselines, replans, proposals, schedule recovery efforts, Schedule Risk Assessments, and integrated program reviews
• Experience leading a large planning and scheduling organization or providing functional leadership across multiple programs and scheduling teams
• Ability to assess schedule quality, identify systemic performance issues, and translate schedule information into actionable recommendations for senior leadership
• Experience developing workforce strategy, technical capability, standards, and organizational practices for a scheduling function
• Ability to work across Program Management, Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, and other functional organizations to drive integrated planning and execution
• Ability to influence senior leaders and establish alignment around scheduling standards, practices, priorities, and corrective actions
• Subject matter expertise in Program Planning, Scheduling, EVMS, and integrated program controls
• Experience providing functional oversight for a large portfolio of programs and scheduling professionals
• Experience establishing or improving scheduling standards, processes, metrics, tools, training, or governance across multiple programs
• Advanced experience with Microsoft Project and enterprise scheduling/data analytics tools
• Experience with schedule risk analysis, predictive schedule metrics, integrated cost/schedule analysis, and program recovery planning
• Experience developing scheduling talent through mentoring, competency development, succession planning, and career development
• Ability to identify trends across multiple programs and lead cross-program or enterprise-level improvement initiatives
• Experience briefing senior leaders and influencing decisions on matters of strategic importance to the scheduling function
• Experience building or sustaining a professional scheduling community through standards, lessons learned, peer reviews, training, and technical collaboration
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C. area, Denver, or NYC areas is $144,000-$268,000. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, Cleveland Ohio, Vermont, and Virginia is $125,500-$233,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
