Job Description:
The L3Harris Communication Systems segment is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented, Electrical Engineer experienced in Digital Design to join an engineering organization that designs and delivers leading edge communications products.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of circuitry, schematic, and PWB layout best practices in Digital design and development for tactical radios and related hardware. They will design and develop circuits for use on PWB-based HW products. They will work with and mentor other electrical engineers in a matrixed organization supporting new product design and development and legacy redesign efforts for future production support. This individual will be a member of a cross functional development team with hands-on responsibility for leading aspects of design, analysis, integration, and testing. Strong communication and interpersonal skills coupled with the ability to work within a large engineering team are required.
This role requires strong leadership and teamwork skills. The candidate will serve as the technical expert in Digital Electrical Engineering in support of a product portfolio and may lead technology initiatives that may go beyond their personal technical competency, utilizing Subject Matter Experts (Engineers and Scientists) from other specific disciplines as required. The candidate will be responsible for championing innovative systems approaches and evaluating strategic technology developments. The candidate will work collaboratively across the engineering organization to focus on the requirements management, technical baseline creation, review and approval, technical roadmap creation and aspects of system engineering process compliance including, but not limited to, process artifact review and approval and risk management/analysis.
This candidate will be familiar with engineering cost models and will be able to help develop Cost Estimates and timelines for the development of new products.
Essential Functions:
- Support hardware projects as the EE SME for Digital designs and legacy sustainment
- Support hardware research and design for software defined radio systems
- Support project integration with other subsystems of a radio (RF, FPGA, Encryption, DSP, Power, Accessories, etc.)
- Perform detailed design simulation and analysis for Digital circuitry
- Perform subsystem and system level verification and validation testing
- Identify, track and repair assigned hardware defects
- Support product and process cost reduction and continuous improvement efforts
- Completion of assignments and delivery of results with general supervision/support
- Up to 10% travel may be required
- Ability to obtain a US security clearance
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
- 8 years experience with design of circuits for Digital applications
- 4 years experience with Printed Circuit Board layout software/techniques for rigid and flex technologies
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent discipline
- PADS experience
- Experience with:
- Leading the technical product development from concept through production
- Developing project work packages or estimation of work content
- Microprocesser design and protocols (ARM Core, DDR, Ethernet, etc.)
- Schematic capture tool usage (Mentor vx2.6/DxDesigner preferred)
- Digital simulation and modelling tools (Matlab, LTSpice, Hyperlinx, etc.)
- Scripting programming language (LabView, Python, etc.)
- Configuration Management software (Agile preferred)
- DFM analysis and implementation for volume manufacturing
- DOORS or equivalent requirements management tools
- Microsoft Project or another project management tool
- Communications for internal and external customer focus
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York state is $130,500-$242,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
