Job Description:

 

L3Harris is seeking a Systems Solutions Engieer to Design complex Land Mobile Radio system solutions that satisfy specific customer requirements. Systems involve L3Harris and vendor equipment, and typically include IP networks, microwave links, wireless data, RF antenna subsystems, 911 dispatch and/or other custom designed subsystems. In this role you will perform site visits and analyze existing customer technical assets, craft high quality proposal text and drawings that clearly and effectively describe the technical solutions being offered, and participate in discussions and presentations with customers, consultants, vendors and other L3Harris personnel as necessary to advance projects. You will also have the opportunity to formally present technical solutions and product information to customers, professional organizations, and consultant groups for the designs developed through the proposal process. The incumbent of this role will be responsible for coordinating technical transition of design to implementation system engineer after contract is awarded.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Craft high quality proposal text and drawings that clearly and effectively describe the technical solutions being offered
  • Participate in discussions and presentations with customers, consultants, vendors and other L3Harris personnel as necessary to advance projects
  • Formally present technical solutions and product information to customers, professional organizations, and consultant groups for the designs developed through the proposal process
  • Coordinate technical transition of design to implementation system engineer after contract is awarded
  • Perform site visits and analyze existing customer technical assets
  • Ability to Travel 10%, Sometimes required working extended hours

Qualifications:      

          

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Experience in telecommunication systems design involving LMR communications systems (P25, Tetra, DMR, Microwave and LTE), Public safety grade mobile voice and data networks
  • Knowledge of integrated command and control Dispatch Consoles, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD)
  • Knowledge of Public safety mobile broadband networks and devices (LTE)
  • knowledge of both public and private communications systems (e.g. APCO P25, DMR, Tetra, LTE, 802.11, 3G/4G
  • Experience in design of IP networks, RF antenna systems, two-way radio systems, microwave systems, wireless data systems, data networking, as well as system configuration
  • Complete knowledge of RF coverage predictions, including coverage analysis, frequency reuse, traffic/capacity modeling
  • Demonstrated strong communications skills. Strong written and interpersonal communication skills, as well as strong presentation skills with the ability to present complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Vermont, Washington State and New York State is $74,000 - $138,000. For California, Seattle, Washington D.C., Maryland Greater Washington D.C. area and New York City, the salary range for this role is $85,000 - $158,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
