Job Description:

This is a hands-on position setting up and performing vibration tests of rocket engines. Vibration technicians directly handle small rocket engines, installing them to the vibration shaker, and operating the control computer that performs the vibration test.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Read, understand, and comply with written work instructions, safety policies, and test procedures.
  • Install small rocket engines in vibration fixtures involving small fasteners and hand tools.
  • Install fixtures to vibration shaker and reconfiguring axes of shaker and table; involving overhead crane operation, large bolts, air wrenches, and torque wrenches.
  • Update software menus for vibration control parameters and accelerometer calibrations per the written work instructions.
  • Perform vibration tests in a team with senior vibration technician and test engineer.
  • Assist senior vibration technician in daily operations of lab.
  • Record keeping, tracing equipment inventory and calibration dates.
  • Taking part in training exercises as a member of our hazardous response team.
  • Participation in our Emergency Response Team is required.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.

 

Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent with 0 to 3 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with industrial testing preferred but not required. 
  • Prior experience specifically with vibration testing is a plus.
  • Experience with aerospace industry type stamped/dated work traveler instructions.
  • Ability to perform fine hand work involving good visual acuity, dexterity, hand eye coordination.
  • Basic electronics skills including reading schematics, being able to understand signal path and troubleshoot cabling issues.
  • Basic mechanical ability including the use of hand tools, ability to select and install machine screws and bolts.  Experience with torque wrenches.
  • Competence with common workplace software such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. 
  • Familiarity with data entry, filling in tables with data from paper hardcopies.

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $20.43/hr - $37.74/hr. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
