Job Description:
Senior Associate, Quality Engineer works under moderate supervision and independently on larger, moderately complex projects or assignments. Communicates with contacts within and outside of own team which may include customers or vendors. Makes basic adjustments to systems and processes to solve problems. Works to achieve operational targets that impact department results.
Essential Functions:
- Utilizes engineering background and expertise to communicate between team members and customer counterparts to provide assurance that the hardware is compliant to specifications. Handles and communicates deviations/ nonconformance at different levels within the organization. Understands and communicates typical aerospace processes (machining, welding, non-destructive testing, etc.) and how they are applied to the hardware being manufactured.
- Applies modern quality principles, concepts, and methods to routine aerospace and manufacturing operation, including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools.
- Interprets engineering drawings and specifications, customer quality requirements, and company quality requirements to ensure compliance with the customer's expectations.
- Participates in the review and disposition of nonconforming product.
- Interfaces with the Material Review Board (MRB) to provide technical justification when a nonconformance to mutually agreed specifications is determined.
- Performs documentation reviews in support of hardware acceptance (HAR) activities.
- Manages product qualification, recurring testing and test report generation.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related quality experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related quality experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related quality experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively establish positive working relationships with various operational groups, all levels of employees, suppliers, and customers.
- Understanding of ISO9001/AS9100 and related QMS standards.
- Experience using RCCA tools such as FMEA, Pareto, 5-Why, 8D, and Fishbone.
- Strong drive and sense of ownership.
- Exposure to product development in a multi-functional team environment is desired.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Washington State is $72,000 - $133,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
