Job Description:
At Aerojet Rocketdyne Redmond, our people further the exploration of space! We develop and manufacture rocket engines that are used on satellites, space probes and other spacecraft. We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Technician with experience in Electron Beam Welding. Experience or knowledge welding to aerospace industry standards, with the ability to train in additional skills, is also desirable. This is a 2nd shift position that typically works 4/10s, Mondays - Thursdays, but candidates must have the ability and willingness to work other shifts and overtime as needed to meet production schedules.
Essential Functions:
- Weld to aerospace industry standards
- Adhere to or help develop qualified weld schedules for aerospace hardware
- Use micrometers, dial indicators, torque wrenches, calipers, and other calibrated metrology equipment.
- Section, chemically etch, and evaluate weld samples.
- Assist in troubleshooting and maintaining Electron Beam Welding equipment
- Read and interpret engineering and tooling drawings, manufacturing sketches, and work instructions.
- Communicate with engineering and technicians regarding technical requirements and/or processes
- Offerssuggestions and recommendations to engineers regarding welding equipment, materials, techniques and procedures.
- Other technical or assembly duties as needed to help support production.
- Must be able to be trained and become certified to perform production EB Welding within the first 90 days of employment. Onboarding and training may be scheduled for a different shift during this time.
- Move heavy objects as required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Security Clearance and meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information (U.S. Citizenship required).
Qualifications:
- Requires high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant welding experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related welding experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Applicants with relevant experience in Electron Beam Welding are highly regarded.
- Understanding of electrical test equipment (DMM, oscilloscope, etc.). Knowledge of strippers, crimpers and installing solder splices. Certification to IPC 620 preferred.
- Additional experience with conventional lathes, mills, and numerical controls a plus. .
- Proficiency in setting up and performing welds per industry specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and precision.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot equipment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with 5S and lean procedures.
- Ability and willingness to work other shifts and overtime as necessary.
- Oracle and Delmia experience.
- Knowledge of Laminar Flow environments and FOE/FOD controls.
- Knowledge of mechanical assembly and test of electromechanical components.
- Knowledge and experience with conventional mills, lathes, and numerical controls.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $25.48/hr - $47.60/hr.
