Job Description:

 

The Production Quality Engineer provides hands‑on support to manufacturing operations by monitoring product quality, addressing issues in real time, conducting inspections, and performing basic root cause analysis to ensure processes meet established standards. Embedded on the production floor, this role works closely with operators, technicians, and supervisors to identify defects, prevent rework, and improve process reliability.

The position also supports broader quality initiatives by helping develop and maintain processes that meet customer and regulatory requirements. The engineer collaborates with cross‑functional teams and customers to review quality performance, investigate nonconformances, contribute to corrective actions, and support quality documentation and communications across operations.

  

Essential Functions:

  • Provide daily, hands-on quality support to production operations by monitoring processes, responding to quality concerns, and addressing operator questions.
  • Perform in‑process inspections, measurements, and verifications to ensure products meet specifications and documented standards.
  • Identify and contain nonconforming material, ensuring proper tagging, documentation, and escalation.
  • Conduct basic root cause analysis for production defects and support corrective action activities using structured problem‑solving tools.
  • Verify that production equipment, gauges, and tools are properly calibrated and used according to established procedures.
  • Assist in reviewing and maintaining work instructions, control plans, visual aids, and check sheets to ensure accuracy and compliance on the production floor.
  • Monitor quality trends, analyze performance data, and communicate recurring issues to leadership.
  • Support rework disposition by providing inspection results, documentation, and technical input for decision‑making.
  • Participate in line walks, audits, and process checks to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and procedural requirements.
  • Train and support operators on inspection methods, defect identification, and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate and timely quality records, including inspection logs, defect reports, and audit documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including Operations, Engineering, Program Management, and customers—to ensure quality standards are defined, understood, and effectively executed.
  • Develop and help implement quality processes, procedures, and statistical quality control methods to improve product and process performance.
  • Investigate nonconformances, determine root causes, and recommend or support effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Review in‑process rejections, assist with product dispositions, and support documentation for customer and internal reporting needs.
  • Serve as a customer-facing Quality representative, which may include providing updates or participating in customer business briefings.
  • Escalate urgent or high‑impact quality issues in accordance with established communication protocols.

 

Qualifications:  

  • To be eligible, applicants must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Management, Quality Sciences or related field or have completed their bachelor’s degree within the last 12 months, regardless of age.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Ability to independently troubleshoot quality or process issues using structured problem‑solving methods
  • Basic understanding of quality principles, measurement tools, and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and work instructions
  • Understanding of ISO9001/AS9100 and related QMS standards

 

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Washington state is $64,500 - $120,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
