Job Description:

 

L3Harris is actively seeking an Aircraft Maintenance D specializing in Powerplants. This position will be responsible for performing major and minor scheduled and unscheduled maintenance IAW military T.O.s, commercial maintenance manuals, and service bulletins of aircraft powerplant/mechanical systems and subsystems. They will also provide technical assistance and guidance during aircrew de-briefs and perform towing, marshalling, and positioning of aircraft on flight line. Perform other related tasks as required in support of engineering, testing, and production for the program.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Powerplants/mechanical experience with: P-8, 737, or other relevant aircraft experience. 
  • Read, interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, T.O specs, and engineering specifications.
  • Assemble close tolerance parts and use common hand tools.
  • Certified to operate self-propelled vehicles such as forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, aircraft support equipment and towing vehicles
  • Climb, including ladders, stairs, and portable stands and navigate these without assistance. 
  • Work in the following environmental conditions: noise, proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, chemicals, odor, and dust. 
  • NALCOMIS Optimized Organizational Maintenance Activity (OOMA) and Advanced System Management (ASM) systems experience.
  • Effective communicator and strong motivational skills.
  • Creative problem-solving capabilities.
  • Must be willing to work any shift (7 days a week) and overtime (up to 20%) as business requires. 
  • Able to lift heavy objects, up to 50 lbs.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time both international and domestic.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

 

Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with eight (8) years of prior experience in managing APU/engine turn, fuel surveillance, vibration analysis, oil analysis and consumption and any other related US Navy Aviation Powerplant programs.
  • 2 years post-Secondary/associate’s degree with four (4) years of prior experience in managing APU/engine turn, fuel surveillance, vibration analysis, oil analysis and consumption and any other related US Navy Aviation Powerplant programs.
  • Active Secret DoD Clearance at the time of hire.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a Flightline Physical.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Periodic Maintenance Information Cards/Maintenance Requirement Cards. 
  • APU and/or Ground turn qualified.
