Job Description:
The Specialist, Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for the integration of electronic equipment on military/commercial aircraft and ground stations. The design includes creating system wiring diagrams using the Capital Harness System tool as well as circuit breaker panels, control panels and other items using Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools.
Essential Functions:
- Designs can include development of Avionics Systems, RF, LAN, Data Processing, Sensor Systems, Power Distribution Systems, Electrical Loads analysis, Load shedding scheme to name a few, along with the opportunity to support testing and integration of systems on the aircraft.
- Can work on a wide variety of tasks and aircraft systems on various aircraft platforms.
- Create and review system wiring diagrams, circuit breaker panels, control panels and other items using PLM Software and CAD (Computer Aided Design) tools, such as Capital Harness, NX, and TeamCenter.
- Research and preparation of engineering drawings, and coordination of design activities with Systems Engineering, Manufacturing, and Production to ensure that designs meet requirements at minimum cost.
- Lead a small team of electrical design engineers to implement electronic subsystems by breaking down requirements and work packages, providing drawing status, and budget estimates to platform leads.
- Train and mentor junior engineers.
- Learn and become familiar with L3Harris Technical Process Specifications and related design practices and methodologies.
- Good computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication skills.
- Able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
- Interpret SOW, requirements and Systems Defintion.
- Must be able to travel to and from flight line and work in aircraft hangar environments. (some positions will require the ability to board/exit aircraft)
- Willingness to travel or relocate, if necessary.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with four (4) years of experience designing and developing electrical systems for the integration of electronic equipment on military/commercial aircraft and ground systems.
- Graduate degree with two (2) years of experience designing and developing electrical systems for the integration of electronic equipment on military/commercial aircraft and ground systems.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of eight (8) years of experience designing and developing electrical systems for the integration of electronic equipment on military/commercial aircraft and ground systems.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Active Secret Clearance or Higher.
- Leadership experience.
