Job Description:

 

We are seeking a motivated and security-conscious Network Administrator to assist in maintaining, configuring, and troubleshooting network infrastructure with a focus on Cisco hardware and VMware virtualized environments. The ideal candidate will have experience working in highly secure classified areas and will be responsible for supporting network infrastructure in compliance with strict security standards. This role requires a valid security clearance, understanding of network security protocols, and hardening of network equipment.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Configure, manage, and maintain Cisco switches and routers within a secure closed area network.
  • Implement and maintain basic routing protocols (e.g., static, OSPF) as well as switching technologies: VLANs, virtual interfaces, Trunking and EtherChannel.
  • Assist in the setup, configuration, and troubleshooting of network devices to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to maintain system uptime in a secure environment.
  • Support network upgrades and configurations, ensuring compliance with security protocols and government regulations.
  • Ensure all network activities comply with established security policies and guidelines (e.g., NIST, JSIG, and other relevant frameworks).
  • Assist in the implementation of security controls to protect the network infrastructure, i.e. port security, RADIUS/LDAP, logging, etc.
  • Collaborate with the security team to apply patches, upgrades, and security fixes to network devices.
  • Provide tier 1 and tier 2 technical support for network-related issues.
  • Respond promptly to service requests and network outages, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, changes, and security controls.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities related to network management, Cisco technologies, and government compliance standards.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
  • Active Top Secret US Security Clearance

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Exposure to advanced security technologies such as firewalls, VPNs, and encryption solutions; especially HAIPE Type 1 network encryptors/GEMOne
  • Hands-on experience with VMware ESXi hosts and vCenter, distributed and standard switching technologies and Solarwinds network monitoring suite
  • Existing 8140 Certification (Security+, CISSP, CISM etc.).
  • Demonstrate basic organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Well versed in risk management, mitigation, and customer service.
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Experience in Special Access Programs (SAPs) and/or Collateral environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
