Job Description:  

Using first-principles thinking, GNC engineers use a foundational understanding of physics combined with multi-disciplinary experience to develop and evaluate system capability to help steer a program’s path forward.  GNC Engineers are responsible for simulation and software development, implementation, testing, and analysis supporting a variety of vehicle types and configurations. 
 

The Agile Development Group specializes in developing disruptive, next-generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV), advanced radar systems, next-generation weapon systems, and other RF sensor technologies using small company agility and big company experience.

Essential Functions: 

  • Develop GNC Design Architectures and Technical Roadmaps supporting program execution
  • Lead simulation/software development and manage team/task delegation based on capabilities, as well as, team growth
    • Develop dynamic vehicle aerodynamic, propulsion, and hardware/sensor models
    • Develop guidance algorithms to provide mission capability
    • Design and tune controllers for vehicle stability/control and performance
    • Integrate a suite of sensor feedback for Navigation and Track State Estimation development
  • Lead root-cause failure identification and resolution studies
  • Lead system performance, capabilities, and sensitivities using a variety of methods
  • Ability to translate technical vision, direction, tasking, and status to multi-disciplinary team
  • Support Growth of GNC Functional Organization through mentoring and creation of process/technical resources
  • Strategy and proposal support including technical scope, cost, and schedule
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any additional clearances as required
  • Physical Requirements (such as ability to lift up to 20 lbs.)
  • Up to 10% travel may be required for field testing and/or multi-site support
  • Other duties as required


Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Aerospace/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or Mathematics) and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Bachelors degree in in Aerospace/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or Mathematics (advanced degree preferred)
  • Active DoD secret security clearance
  • Experience in multiple GNC disciplines
    • Guidance, Navigation, Control Theory, Track State Estimation, High-Fidelity Vehicle Modeling
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and/or C/C++.


Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Masters degree in Aerospace/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or Mathematics and/or combined with equivalent experience
  • Practical experience working with a variety of mission sensor types (RADAR, EO/IR, etc), modes, and stabilization
  • Practical experience with a variety of vehicle sensor types (GPS, IMU, ADS, etc) and modes
  • Familiarity with a variety of tracker types and kalman filtering
  • Background in physics/rigid body dynamics
