Job Description:

As a Lead, Radar Simulation and Algorithms Engineer you will provide technical leadership in the architecture, development, and validation of high-fidelity radar simulations and advanced RF sensing algorithms for next-generation multifunction RF sensor products. You will translate mission and system requirements into simulation architectures, develop and evaluate radar algorithms, and use modeling and analysis to guide design decisions, optimize performance, and reduce technical risk. This role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, including establishing technical roadmaps, leading design reviews, mentoring engineers, and supporting program execution and proposal development. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative, customer-focused capabilities.
The Agile Development Group specializes in developing disruptive, next-generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV), advanced radar systems, next-generation weapon systems, and other RF sensor technologies using small company agility and big company experience.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead radar architecture development and technical roadmaps, aligning simulation and algorithm development with mission requirements and program objectives.
  • Develop, integrate, and validate high-fidelity radar models spanning RF front ends, transmit/receive chains, antennas, propagation, target signatures, operational environments, and signal processing.
  • Design and evaluate radar waveforms and processing algorithms, including pulse compression, Doppler processing, beamforming, detection, and tracking.
  • Provide technical expertise in electronic protection algorithms, including waveform design, adaptive interference cancellation, and cognitive approaches.
  • Model RF impairments and hardware effects, including noise figure, gain and loss, phase noise, nonlinearities, dynamic range, I/Q imbalance, and channel mismatch.
  • Conduct performance assessments, trade studies, sensitivity analyses, using simulations under realistic operating conditions.
  • Verify and validate models and algorithms against analytical predictions, laboratory measurements, and field-test data.
  • Collaborate with systems, RF hardware, software, integration, and test teams to transition algorithms from simulation into implementable solutions.
  • Lead technical reviews and improve engineering processes, modeling methods, simulation tools, and reusable analysis capabilities.
  • Mentor engineers and provide technical direction across RF signal processing, algorithm development, modeling, and simulation.
  • Present technical findings, risks, and recommendations to engineering leadership, internal and external customers, and program stakeholders.
  • Support proposal development, including technical approaches, cost estimates, schedules, resource needs, and execution plans.
  • Travel up to 10%, as required.

Qualifications:

  • Active US Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior Radar Systems Engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior Radar Systems Engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior Radar Systems Engineering experience.
  • At least 7 years of experience modeling radar systems and assessing RF system performance under realistic operating conditions.
  • 5+ years experience in MATLAB/Simulink and C/C++.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Advanced degree in Engineering related discipline.
  • Subject matter expertise in radar and digital signal processing, with experience developing algorithms for radar and other RF sensing applications.
  • Strong understanding of radar theory, RF link budgets, receiver sensitivity, antenna characteristics, and electromagnetic propagation.
  • Experience with phased-array or active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar, digital beamforming, or multichannel receiver architectures.
  • Experience in design, coding, and optimization of GPU-accelerated processing algorithms using NVIDIA CUDA.
  • Experience supporting radar integration, laboratory testing, and field-test campaigns.
  • Experience transitioning radar algorithms into real-time implementations.
  • Experience correlating simulation predictions with measured system performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and execute trade studies and parametric analyses.
  • Proven technical leadership and program execution skills, including planning engineering work, managing technical risks, and delivering results against cost and schedule objectives
