Job Description:  
As a Lead, Power Supply Design Engineer, you will have primary engineering responsibility for leading specification, design, analysis and testing of power and analog circuits. We are currently in the need of professionals with experience in power conversion, power architecture and power bus design in airborne and surveillance applications. Your electrical design tasks will include requirements analysis, specification generation, interface definition, component selection, circuit simulation, schematic capture, and board layout for low voltage switching power supply solutions. You will also engage in all phases of product development, including concept, architecture, design, and test.
L3Harris’ Agile Development Group specializes in developing disruptive, next-generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV), advanced radar systems, next-generation weapon systems, and other RF sensor technologies using small company agility and big company experience.
 
Essential Functions: 
•       Primary engineering responsibility for electrical design tasks which include requirements analysis, specification generation, interface definition, component selection, circuit analysis and simulation, schematic capture, and printed circuit board layout, fab and assembly support, bring up and design verification testing for power solutions
•       Design capture of power solutions encompassing host power to bus conversions, working voltage rails, and point of load regulation on RF, Digital and other various system circuit card assemblies (CCAs)
•       Subject matter expert for power design applications support and devising new approaches to technical problems in the area of power delivery for embedded processors, microcontrollers, FPGAs, RF LNAs, PAs, Mixers and other circuit applications
•       Perform test and evaluation of power solutions at functional, circuit cards assemblies, and system levels
•       Perform detailed technical circuit analyses, test plans, procedures, and reports for power solutions
•       Works closely with other engineering disciplines in defining key power requirements and the subsequent item specification creation and design capture of power solutions
•       Responsible for compliance of schedule, cost, and technical performance for assigned power solutions at the assembly, subsystem and system level
•       Communication point of contact for needs/requirements/status to program management and other cross functional team leaders
•       Lead, perform or provide critical analysis for peer reviews, PDRs, CDRs, and other required design reviews
•       Engage in risk assessment, identify high risk circuit functions and develop mitigation strategies by architecting early prototyping/simulation approaches
•       Simulate, breadboard, test and troubleshoot electrical power circuits and functions
•       Participate on technical and cost proposal writing teams
•       Ensure that company processes for product development, configuration management, purchasing, etc. are followed while contributing to process improvement
 
Qualifications:
•       Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
•       Ability to obtain DoD Secret Clearance
•       A minimum of 7 years experience in electronic power design, devices, control loop theory, thermal management, custom magnetics design, PWB layout and EMI filtering
 
Preferred Additional Skills:
•       Experience with mission/requirements definition, concept generation, trade studies
•       Experience with Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA) and Failure Review Boards (FRB)
•       Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, ability to interact with a cross functional team and ability to collaborate across all levels of leadership.
•       Technical knowledge in spacecraft power subsystems which include solar arrays, batteries, power topologies and charging systems, power control/switching, regulation, distribution, and power quality.
•       Excellent problem-solving skills
•       Demonstrated application of DC to DC military converters using wide range of topologies to support RF and digital circuitry in challenging SWaP (size, weight, and power) environments with output power ranges from 10W – 10kW
•       Familiarity with Simplis or Hyperlynx power simulation tools
•       High frequency filter designs designated to meet Mil-STDs such as 810, 461 and 704
•       Familiarity with circuit analyses and simulations tools such as PSIM and LTSpice
•       Experience providing subcontract technical management for complex designs
•       Experience interpreting high level requirements to develop power architectures
