Job Description: 

The Project Engineering technical manager leads and directs experienced professionals working across multiple programs.  The Project Engineering technical manager provides leadership to their group of project engineers and is accountable for the overall development and execution of project plans throughout the entire project life cycle.  The Project Engineering technical manager will lead portfolio execution and workforce development through hiring, staffing, career and talent development, and positive engagement initiatives. They will manage the implementation of technical strategies and recommend operational plans that directly impact execution across their area of focus and the projects their team’s support.

Essential Functions: 

• Lead training, talent development, engagement, retention, and overall management of the workforce, and provide coaching and leadership development for a direct staff of 20-30 project engineers
• Prior experience as a Project Engineer (PE), an Integrated Product Team Leader (IPTL), or Control Account Manager (CAM)
• Owns the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and leads the schedule aspects of the project: planning, execution, and delivery of work products from Integrated Product Teams (IPTs)
• Provide engineering staffing and labor planning for programs, pursuits, and internal projects supporting RF-based space payloads and systems as well as fully integrated Space Vehicles carrying different types of payloads.  
• Support pursuits and proposals in the business, including review/approval of technical proposals and Basis of Estimates (BOEs) as needed. 
• Ability to obtain and maintain government clearance 

Qualifications:  

• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
• Experience directly managing employees in an integrated engineering organization. 
• Active TS/SCI security clearance

Preferred Additional Skills: 

• Experience with space hardware design and testing
• Experience leading complex technical teams and programs to deliver hardware
• Demonstrated experience in communicating with internal and external Customer stakeholders
• Experience providing staffing for programs, pursuits, and internal efforts 

• Ability to coach, mentor and build relationships with internal and external organizations.
