Job Description:

The Configuration Management (CM) Digital Transformation workstream leader is a key member of the Digital Transformation PLM team, focused on deploying Windchill as the enterprise PLM backbone for the SMS Segment.

This role is responsible for embedding robust configuration management practices into the new Windchill environment and ensuring that the platform can support program CM, specialty engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain needs. The CM Senior Specialist serves as the primary bridge between traditional, program-level CM and the target-state digital thread.

Partnering closely with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, PLM Solution Architects, and Data Migration Engineers, this position translates L3Harris CM policies and customer requirements into practical Windchill configuration models, workflows, and governance rules. The role helps move the enterprise from document-centric configuration control to an integrated, data-driven configuration backbone that is audit-ready, scalable, and sustainable post‑implementation.

This position is located in Palm Bay, FL:  https://careers.l3harris.com/en/florida

Essential Functions:

  • Interpret L3Harris CM policies, program CM plans, and contractual/customer requirements, and translate them into Windchill-based configuration rules, object strategies, and workflows as part of the implementation.
  • Define how product baselines (as-designed, as-built, as-maintained), revisions, options/variants, and serialized configurations will be represented and controlled using Windchill WTParts, Documents, CAD Documents, and Change Objects.
  • Provide CM requirements and use cases into Windchill solution design, configuration, and customization activities.
  • Interpret L3Harris CM policies, program CM plans, and contractual/customer requirements, and translate them into requirements that will become Windchill-based configuration rules, object strategies, and workflows as part of the implementation.
  • Provide hands-on coaching and support during pilots and early waves of the Windchill rollout, acting as a CM champion and escalation point for CM-related usage questions.
  • Capture lessons learned from deployments and feed them into ongoing refinement of CM processes and Windchill configuration.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or a related technical field and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience;
OR a Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • 6+ years of hands-on configuration management experience in an aerospace/defense or similarly regulated engineering environment, including:
    • Baseline management for complex systems and multi-level product structures.
    • Formal change control (ECR/ECN or equivalent, deviations, waivers, CCB participation).
    • Support to configuration audits and regulatory/compliance activities.
  • Direct experience with Windchill or related PTC PLM tools in a CM or product data role, including:
    • Managing WTParts, Documents, product structures, and CAD Documents.
    • Executing or supporting Windchill change processes and workflows.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Demonstrated involvement in enterprise system implementations or major CM/tool transformations (PLM, ERP, or digital thread initiatives).
  • Experience developing training content, guidance material, or playbooks that support organizational capability growth
  • Exposure to digital engineering and model-based practices (MBSE, simulation baselines, software configuration) and how they map into a Windchill-centric digital thread.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience diagnosing configuration issues in large, complex product data sets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate detailed Windchill/CM rules into clear guidance for diverse user groups.
