This role requires expertise in cloud-native architectures, service-oriented design, API integration, and AI-driven automation to enable interoperability, scalability, and mission-critical resilience across complex environments. While the focus of this role is primarily on the front end of the program in the Capture and Proposal phase, the baseline established must also consider the Program Execution and Operations phase for a variety of missions. The architect will work closely with both the engineering and new business development teams during new pursuits to establish a technical baseline.
Essential Functions:
- Design and implement software architectures for multi-domain interoperability, including microservices, containerization, and cloud-native applications.
- Develop and integrate secure, scalable, and resilient software systems supporting cross-domain operations (JADC2, C4ISR, cyber-physical systems, AI/ML-driven decision-making, etc.).
- Lead Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and DevSecOps practices for continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD).
- Design and implement open APIs, middleware, and data exchange standards to enable seamless communication across disparate platforms.
- Develop distributed computing architectures utilizing Kubernetes, Kafka, gRPC, DDS, and real-time data processing frameworks.
- Ensure software compliance with DoD software standards (e.g., MOSA, FACE, DDS, Open Mission Systems, Zero Trust Architecture).
- Utilize AI/ML techniques to enhance automation, decision support, and predictive analytics in multi-domain environments.
- Conduct trade studies, software modeling, and performance optimization for large-scale, software-defined ecosystems.
- Implement cybersecurity best practices, including encryption, authentication, and access control, in software-centric systems.
- Collaborate with cross-domain engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of software and hardware components in complex SoS environments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.
- Active TS/SCI security clearance
- Strong expertise in microservices architecture, Kubernetes, container orchestration, API design, and data distribution frameworks.
- Experience with real-time processing, edge computing, and AI-enhanced automation in software-defined systems.
- Proficiency in Python, Java, C++, Golang, or Rust for high-performance and scalable software development.
- Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies.
- Knowledge of JADC2, MOSA, FACE, DDS, Zero Trust Architecture, and software interoperability frameworks.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles, software assurance, and secure coding practices.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, Google Cloud) and hybrid-cloud architectures.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate with hardware, AI, and cyber experts.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with DARPA, AFRL, NAVWAR, or DoD software integration projects.
- Expertise in AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, ONNX, Reinforcement Learning) for mission-critical applications.
- Familiarity with digital twins, synthetic environments, and software-defined wargaming tools.
- Certifications in AWS/Azure, Kubernetes (CKA/CKS), SAFe Agile, TOGAF, or INCOSE.
- Hands-on experience with high-assurance software systems (DO-178C, ISO 26262, MIL-STD-882E, etc.).
