Job Description:
L3Harris Technologies has an opening for a Specialist, Systems Engineering in Modeling, Simulation & Analysis (MS&A) to join our Mission Analysis Group (MAG). This position can be in Palm Bay, FL or Herndon, VA. The selected Specialist, Systems Engineering, will work in a fast-paced environment with a diverse collaborative geographically dispersed team to develop various analytic toolsets focused on constructive simulation and experimentation across multi-domains, for a variety of customers, both internal and external contracts. Toolsets are used in a variety of simulation events ranging from customer engagement, proposal support to advanced concept exploration.
Essential Functions:
- Communicate with parties within and outside of the organization which includes customers or vendors. Works to influence others to accept individual or team’s views or practices and changes to concepts, practices, and approaches. Requires ability to communicate with leadership regarding matters of importance to the function of or business area. May conduct briefings with senior leaders
- Coordinate MS&A engineering efforts to integrate system performance and behaviors into operational analysis
- Design multi-domain simulation capabilities in AFSIM®, MATLAB® and or STK® in support of MAG Technology and Mission Roadmaps, Internal Research and Development efforts, and Programs of record
- Integrate other Government-off-the-Shelf (GOTS) and Customer-off-the-Shelf (COTS) simulations, frameworks, models and analytic toolsets to existing S/W infrastructure i.e. AFSIM®, MATLAB® and or STK®
- Build and maintain analytic toolsets representing each phase of the find, fix, target, track, engage, and assess (F2T2EA) chain using sensor, effects, and communications technologies, including decision support aids i.e. data visualization, Unity-game engines to support operations assessment, as well as lessons learned development/refinement experience
- Document model specifications for establishing a repository of simulation capabilities, frameworks, algorithms, system models, analytic toolsets etc. for reuse at multiple classification levels, while maintain configuration management protocols
- Support programs and pursuits by creating models, simulations, and analysis products. Determine requirements, develop simulation software, troubleshoot existing simulation capabilities, and create software designs and test plans
- Support requirements development, system verification, and concept of operations (CONOPS) development as well as work with Technical Leaders & SMEs to ensure modeling, simulation, analysis capabilities meet operational mission requirements
- Develop new simulation capabilities and processes for employment, enhance current analytic toolset
- Support internal and external technical expo/roadshows by providing knowledge sharing of signature simulation capabilities and products
- Support knowledge transfer i.e. coaching and mentorship of Junior technical talent across the MAG
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must have and be able to maintain a DoD TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance
- Bachelor's degree in STEM fields (Software/Computer/Electrical/Aerospace/Software/Systems Engineering, Physics) and a minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience
- Experience executing simulation in Gov/Industry MS&A analytic tools and frameworks: AFSIM, PIANO , STK/Astrogator
- Experience integrating Gov/Industry simulations with MBSE tools: Cameo, ModelCenter, DOORS, Rhapsody
- Experience with scripting languages such as Anaconda with Python, simulation code development in C++, C#, R, Python, MATLAB
- Agile development methodology, version control and Atlassian tools: JIRA, Confluence, Git, TortoiseGit
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Good communication skills and works well in a team environment
- Mastery of Systems Engineering concepts, methods and state of practice
- Advanced experience in supporting modeling, simulation, and analysis multi-domain related problems and system-thru-mission-level mod/sim tools and frameworks
- Prior experience with one or more of the following: aerodynamic systems, orbital mechanics, signal processing, sensor systems, and RF or EO/IR physics
- Highly effective organization level communication, presentation, interpersonal skills, data visualization and storytelling
- Advanced experience with Gov/Industry MS&A analytic tools and frameworks: AFSIM, PIANO, STK/Astrogator, MATLAB with SIMULINK, Python, Java
- Advanced experience of MBSE tools: Cameo, ModelCenter, DOORS, Rhapsody
- Top Secret SCI clearance highly desired
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Colorado State, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Vermont New Jersey and New York State is $79,000-$146,000. For California, Seattle, Washington D.C., Maryland Greater Washington D.C. area, the city of Denver, Washington State and New York City, the salary range for this role is $90,500-$168,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
