Job Description:  

  • This opportunity is for a position with the L3Harris Environmental Test Laboratory.
  • The candidate will coordinate, prepare, manage, and execute environmental testing projects designed to take L3Harris products to the limit of their functional and structural design.
  • The candidate will lead the operation of climatic chambers designed to replicate:
    • The freezing temperatures of the earth's poles
    • The scorching temperatures of deserts
    • The humidity of jungles
    • The altitudes of the skies
    • The frigid vacuum of space
  • The candidate will operate electrodynamic shakers to reproduce harsh vibration environments and test products for their survivability under conditions such as:
    • Transportation
    • Gunfire
    • Aircraft-carrier arrests
    • Rocket launch conditions
  • The candidate will work in a team-oriented environment in a laboratory that operates year-round.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Plan, document, coordinate, and execute, environmental exposure tests on high-technology, high-value hardware produced for the defense industry.
  • Support the documentation and investigation of anomalies and failures.
  • Advise new programs on their qualification test planning.
  • This position requires occasional weekends, off-shift, and overtime work.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with environmental testing. (Vibration, Thermal, Thermal Vacuum)
  • Ability to read and follow written procedures and processes and work with the engineering leadership team to resolve issues.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • People management/leadership skills. Candidate will work closely with Environmental Test Technicians to accomplish testing.
  • Experience with avionics or space hardware test.
  • Experience performing environmental testing per MIL-STD-810.
  • Experience with software development (MATLAB, VBA, Python, etc.).
