This role is a great fit for technical trainers, engineering technicians, or folks with a military background who have experience writing procedures, training materials, or technical documentation, the skills you've built in those roles apply directly here.

If you've spent time breaking down complex technical information so others can understand and use it, whether in a classroom, on a shop floor, or in a military setting, you'll do well in this position. You'll work with different teams across the company to turn technical concepts into clear, user-friendly documentation. We're looking for someone with strong writing skills, the ability to manage projects, solid organizational abilities, and sharp attention to detail. If you enjoy making complicated technical stuff make sense to different audiences, we'd love to hear from you.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop, organize, and deliver technical information (e.g., user guides, training materials, installation manuals) for non-technical and technical users in structured (markup language) and unstructured (Word) environments
  • Ability to read technical drawings and convert the information into easy-to-understand procedures
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly, concisely, and accurately and be comfortable asking questions to ensure accuracy
  • Possess advanced skills in using Excel, including a strong command of formulas, functions, VBA (Visual Basic for Applications), and macros
  • Identify and fill documentation gaps by conducting independent research, interviews, and hands-on exploration of the equipment
  • A hands-on approach to understanding the technology and products being documented, with a keen ability to learn new technologies quickly and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Responsible for reviews of documentation for style, design, layout, accuracy, and editorial aspects
  • Ensure best practices and style guides are adhered to while maintaining a consistent tone, structure, and format across all technical documentation
  • Proactively engage with development teams to ensure timely updates and revisions to the documentation based on equipment changes and enhancements
  • Stay up to date with industry standards and trends in technical documentation, and recommend improvements and new approaches for enhancing the documentation process
  • Build documentation using HTML tools (Dreamweaver, Confluence, FrameMaker) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Use the Atlassian Suite (JIRA, Confluence) to track your work and collaborate with the team
  • Create supporting visuals like illustrations, photos, flowcharts, and graphs using tools like Photoshop and Visio
  • Understand how the Systems Development Lifecycle works and use that knowledge to keep documentation in sync with product development
