Job Description:
L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Space Operations Instructor to support mission-critical national security space operations within the Surveillance System Enterprise. This position serves as a subject matter expert responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering comprehensive training programs for operational and support personnel to ensure sustained mission readiness and mission effectiveness.
The Space Operations Instructor directly supports the Southbound mission and contributes to the Space Warfighting Mission through curriculum development, operational analysis, lessons-learned integration, and readiness assessment activities. This role is responsible for preparing personnel to monitor, analyze, and assess mission performance; conduct Launch and Early Operations (LEOPS) training; support anomaly response and investigation training; and produce decision-support materials for customers.
The selected candidate will operate in a dynamic, high-tempo environment and collaborate with Government and Contractor personnel to improve operational proficiency, strengthen mission resilience, and drive continuous improvement in training effectiveness across the enterprise.
Essential Functions:
• Conduct periodic reviews of operational and support training materials to ensure content accuracy, mission relevance, and alignment with current system configurations, procedures, and operational requirements.
• Plan, schedule, coordinate, and deliver formal and informal classroom instruction, hands-on system training, and mission-focused training events for operators and support personnel.
• Lead training meetings and participate in operations, update briefings, exercises, strategic planning sessions, and tool demonstrations to provide subject matter expertise and identify training impacts.
• Provide hands-on instruction and performance-based training for operators, as required, to strengthen operational proficiency and mission readiness.
• Maintain proficiency in operational systems, mission applications, and support tools developed and operated within the contract portfolio.
• Develop and maintain training documentation, lesson materials, visual aids, job aids, and step-by-step instructional products, including annotated system screenshots and reference guides.
• Remain current on developing system tools, software updates, operational changes, and new capabilities; update associated training products, checklists, and reference materials accordingly.
• Support training team members by sharing system knowledge, mission context, and instructional best practices.
• Assist in system integration, development, test, and transition activities by serving as a subject matter expert and user representative.
• Contribute to lessons learned capture, readiness assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance training quality and operational effectiveness.
• Support anomaly response and investigation training activities, including the development of instructional materials and operator guidance.
• Develop training-related decision-support materials and operational reference products for internal and customer use.
• Travel up to 10% in support of training delivery, customer coordination, mission activities, and program requirements.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
• Top Secret/SCI with SAP eligibility.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with DoD Instructional Systems Design (ISD), technical training development, or equivalent instructional methodology.
• Minimum 3 years of experience supporting Launch and Early Operations (LEOPS), space operations, satellite operations, or a related mission environment.
Preferred Additional Skills:
• Completion of an accredited instructor training course, military instructor course, or equivalent formal instructional certification.
• Experience with Satellite Command and Control (Sat C2) operations.
• Experience in national security space operations or other classified operational mission environments.
• Experience supporting anomaly resolution, mission operations, or operator certification training.
• Familiarity with operational readiness assessments, exercises, and mission rehearsal activities.
• Experience developing training aids, job aids, lesson plans, and visual instructional materials for technical systems.
• Prior experience supporting Government customers in an operational or mission support capacity.
• Experience developing, maintaining, and delivering technical or operational training materials for mission personnel.
• Ability to communicate complex technical and operational concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience working in a dynamic operational environment with evolving mission priorities and system updates.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to collaborate across Government and Contractor teams.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Florida is $92,500 to $171,500.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
