Job Description:
This role is part of the L3Harris (LHX) Space Systems Sector within the Space and Mission Systems (SMS) Segment. SMS is the largest and the fastest growing segment within LHX and well postured for continued growth and success in the domain.
This position serves as an Integration and Test Engineer responsible for executing and coordinating hardware integration and production test activities for space programs. The role focuses on hands‑on build, test, and manufacturing support, ensuring that hardware moves efficiently through assembly, verification, and validation processes. The engineer will develop and refine integration instructions, support manufacturing planning, and drive process improvements that enhance quality and throughput.
Essential Functions:
- Lead integration and test activities for sub‑component hardware, including both subassembly‑level and system‑level builds.
- Develop detailed mechanical integration work instructions for Engineering Technicians.
- Create and maintain manufacturing and test plans to support production and verification needs.
- Estimate manufacturing costs, establish time standards, and recommend tooling and process requirements for new and existing products.
- Support assembly operations by implementing design updates, driving process improvements, troubleshooting issues, and executing corrective actions while coordinating closely with engineering stakeholders.
- Use Lean Six Sigma methods to identify, evaluate, and implement process optimization opportunities.
- Participate in production validation through environmental testing and functional checkout, including spacecraft‑level integration activities.
- Provide day‑to‑day leadership for technician teams performing manufacturing, integration, and test operations.
- Train, mentor, and guide both technician and engineering team members.
- Document and resolve nonconformances using structured root‑cause and corrective‑action methodologies.
- Support business pursuits and proposals, including contributing to technical proposal reviews and Basis of Estimate (BOE) development as required.
- Plan, schedule, and manage major integration or test events—including readiness reviews, facility coordination, staffing plans, and cross-functional integration.
- Provide regular status updates, metrics, and assessments to leadership, highlighting progress, risks, challenges, and mitigation strategies.
- Support on‑site operations at test facilities and partner sites as required. Travel may be required up to 10–20%.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience.
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- Ability to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance

- Strong organizational, communication, planning, and problem‑solving skills with a demonstrated ability to take ownership and follow tasks through to completion.
- Proficient in MS Windows and Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, and Project.
- Collaborative, proactive, and customer‑focused approach with the ability to lead, train, and mentor team members effectively.
- Familiarity with Earned Value Management processes and variance reporting.
- Background working with space or aerospace hardware and relevant environmental conditions.
- Experience applying process‑improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, or Kaizen.
- Hands‑on experience with precision mechanical measurement tools and assembly practices.
- Background in developing or executing verification and validation plans for hardware involving environmental testing, functional testing, or space‑qualification processes.
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and software subsystems commonly used in space hardware and how they interact during integration and test.
- Ability to interpret system‑level requirements and translate them into actionable integration and test strategies.
- Strong capability in root‑cause analysis and leading resolution of issues discovered during integration or test execution.
