Job Description:
The Technical Manager will lead a growing discipline of Systems Integration and Test engineering. The technical manager will be responsible for leading an interdisciplinary team, designing, implementing, maintaining, and sustaining space mission engineering, including mission design, analysis, and operations along with engineering excellence, and technical innovation across the organization. This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable product solutions. As a leader of people, the candidate will provide strong technical mentorship to a group of people around systems infrastructure design and validation.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for designing complex systems, including reverse engineering and decomposing existing systems.
- Demonstrate an understanding of mission requirements associated with satellite telemetry, tracking, and control (TT&C) ground stations
- Review and provide technical input for discipline cost/schedule/technical baseline for BOEs/proposals, ECPs
- Assess employee performance, salary planning and promotions
- Develop talent pipelines, ensures pipelines are fully populated
- Enforce code of conduct compliance and address HR/ethics concerns
- Foster employee engagement (monthly skip levels, engagement activities, etc.)
- Drive engineering implementation of productivity performance, improvements, and measures within department
- Support hiring process (screen, interview, hire, NGC’s, interns, hiring events, onboarding)
- Support on-board and off-board assignments/transitions in a timely manner to minimize IDL impact
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 12 years of prior relevant experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering or a related field. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
- Experience as a Product Owner, CAM, or IPTL in space mission engineering, including mission design, analysis, and operations
- Experience decomposing complex requirements into detailed specifications
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
- Experience with Linux and windows Systems
- Experience with Test Procedure/Use Case Verification
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with other MBSE tools and frameworks
- Knowledge of space systems and subsystems, including spacecraft design and operations
- Certification in Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum Master, Product Owner)
- MBSE Certification like but limited to OMG Level 1 Certification
- Experience with systems engineering standards and best practices
- Weather and antenna/RF experience
