Job Description:  

Engineering Support qualified to evaluate and test polymers, adhesives, composite, and metals used in Aerospace and Defense programs and analyze the physical, chemical, mechanical, and thermal properties.

• Perform destructive and non-destructive techniques to test material properties with analytical methods.
• Interface with internal customers to assist in the evaluation and application of numerous materials and processes relevant to the technical activities of L3Harris
• Work in a hands-on laboratory environment involving hazardous chemicals and conditions where safety needs to be maintained using appropriate personal protective equipment and adherence to be handling procedures.
• Generate reports of completed work for program/quality/design teams, management, and L3Harris customers

Essential Functions: 

• Receive and analyze materials following all detailed instructions and procedures supplied
• Make observations and interpret findings
• Design and execute laboratory testing according to in-house procedures, Quality processes, and industry standards such as ASTM, ICP, and ISO
• Work with technicians and engineers to supply programs with accurate results and recommendations
• Maintain and troubleshoot equipment and assist in ordering supplies
• Follow all safety guidelines
• Ability to plan and work on multiple projects at one time delivering results to required schedules

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
• Requires practical knowledge of Materials and Process Engineering lab or similar background.
• Competency in MS Office Suite and proficiency in documenting procedures

Preferred Additional Skills:

•  Highly skilled at cross-sectioning, polishing
