Job Description:

The Systems Integration & Test Engineer will oversee system verification and test planning for the integration of the spacecraft bus, mission payload, and communication payload, culminating in end-to-end testing. Responsibilities include leading a team of I&T engineers through the product life cycle, from initial requirement analysis for testability to designing and developing test plans and flows. Additionally, this role involves defining, planning, and implementing strategies for test, verification, validation, qualification, and acceptance testing.
 

Essential Functions:

  • Provide mastery-level system integration and test engineering expertise to a team.
  • Lead space hardware and software integration and verification testing at acceptance, proto-flight, and qualification levels for all relevant environments (vibration, thermal, vacuum)
  • Develop verification plans, test procedures, and test flows, and lead the execution of test procedures.
  • Document test results in reports to ensure system requirements are met.
  • Lead requirements verification for components, subsystems, and systems.
  • managing the Test Bed and Simulators used during integration and test activities.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues and anomalies during integration and testing, collaborating with cross-functional teams to address discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with cross-discipline teams (systems, mechanical, structural, thermal, power, optical, RF, electrical) in development, integration, and execution.
  • Represent Space Integration & Test engineering during major system level design reviews including System Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), and Test Readiness Reviews (TRR), and Pre-Shipment Review (PSR)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 16 years of engineering experience
  • Experience with system-level space requirements verification, including allocation, testability, flow down, analysis, testing, and demonstration.
  • Experience executing all phases of space vehicle programs (SRR, PDR, CDR, IRR, TRR, PSR, etc.)
  • Experience with space hardware/software integration, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with Flat Sats and simulators
  • Secret Clearance

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Technical leadership experience in an SI&T role
  • Experience designing Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) and/or Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) for large space vehicles.
  • Strong understanding in space vehicle subsystem designs: Power, Thermal, Communications (Optical or RF), Data Management, Structures, Mechanisms, GNC, Propulsion, Configuration/Packaging, Software, Fault Management, Harness
  • Proficiency with Interface Definition Documents (IDDs) and Interface Control Drawings (ICDs)
  • Expertise in requirements management, traceability, and verification using IBM Rational DOORS and MBSE tools (CAMEO)
  • Experience directly interfacing with customers (both prime contractors and end customers) to resolve technical issues during the development and sell-off of space hardware.
  • Experience in risk management
