Job Description:

 

The Principal Project Engineering Tools and PLM Transformation Lead has responsibility on enhancing the efficiency of engineering design tools and processes within the IMS Segment. Responsibilities include defining and delivering solutions to streamline workflows, leading change and transformation initiatives with a specific focus on harmonizing engineering tools across the engineering disciplines to improve efficiency, collaboration, and data consistency. This position is responsible for the selection, implementation, and ongoing management of engineering tools. This role will act as a bridge between engineering, IT, and vendors, ensuring that the tools landscape is optimized and effectively supports the engineering workflow. In addition, this role oversees and coordinates the cost/schedule/technical aspects of ongoing Tools Harmonization Initiatives across IMS Segment and the deployment of special project in IMS including transformation to modernized PLM systems.   This role will partner with the Segment Functional Engineering Leadership to determine the strategic integration of Tools and Processes infrastructure initiatives across IMS and company cross-functional teams including PLM, MBD, ALM / DevSecOps, MBSE, and Digital Thread.

 

This role reports to the IMS Segment Sr. Director, Engineering Operations and Performance.  

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Tool Harmonization Strategy: Develop and implement a strategy for harmonizing engineering tools, focusing on standardization, integration, and data flow across different engineering disciplines. Assess current state tools and processes, customer requirements and business needs to develop a discipline-specific strategic roadmap.
  • Tool Selection & Evaluation: Research and evaluate new engineering tools and technologies that align with the company's needs and harmonization goals. This includes assessing the technical capabilities, cost, and ease of integration with existing systems.
  • Tool Implementation & Training: Lead the implementation and change management of deployed new tools, including configuration, data migration, and user training. Work closely with IT on the integration of new tools and updates to enterprise platform tools.
  • Tool Administration & Maintenance: Manage and maintain the portfolio of engineering tools, ensuring their reliability, performance, and security.
  • Integration & Data Flow: Oversee seamless integration of engineering tools with other enterprise systems, such as PLM, ERP, and MES. Focus on establishing efficient data flow and interoperability between tools.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in the engineering tools landscape and propose solutions to optimize workflows, enhance collaboration, and reduce costs.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical oversight to ensure engineering tools, processes, and integrations meet performance, reliability, and security requirements while supporting segment-wide harmonization goals.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, with a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience; a Master’s degree in Engineering, Data Science, or Business with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • 10+ years’ experience working with large multi-site functional teams and managing complex projects.
  • 10+ years’ engineering development/ product development life cycle
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including leading engineering teams and/or integrated product teams with a focus on performance, collaboration and improving efficiency.
  • Solid understanding of engineering principles, processes, and tools used in various engineering disciplines (e.g., mechanical, electrical, software).
  • Experience with a wide range of engineering tools, including CAD and PLM, simulation software, and project management execution tools.
  • Harmonization Experience: Proven experience in developing and implementing tool harmonization strategies across engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills to effectively work with cross-functional and integrated product teams as well as functional discipline leaders
  • Requires US citizenship.

  

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
  • Aerospace and Defense experience.
  • Demonstrated strategic mindset and possess strong project planning, business/financial acumen, excellent judgment, forward thinking, with excellent communication skills, and a high initiative/bias for action.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience in producing clear and concise reports, presentations and dashboards for executive audiences
  • Knowledge of L3Harris Technologies engineering
  • Experience with L3Harris engineering processes, including engineering product and drawing release
  • Experience with synthesizing complex information, familiarity with data collection and data analytics, and design workflows and procedures.
  • Self-motivated with strong ability to prioritize workload and drive personal and team task completion.
  • Comfortable working in a high volume, fast-paced, rapidly changing, results-oriented work environment.

 

 

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $150,000 - $267,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
