Job Description:
This role is a segment level Manufacturing Engineering position that is part of the Space and Airborne Systems Operations Execution Assurance team. Members of this team provide strategic and tactical support across all Space and Airborne Systems manufacturing sites and critical pursuits/programs through Independent Review Team support, providing process and technology expertise to ensure adequacy of execution plans and early risk identification and mitigation, assisting in root cause and corrective actions, and ensuring adoption of best practices.
Essential Functions:
- Provide Independent Review Team (IRT) support for critical pursuits and programs through participation during gate review process.
- Perform site and program assessments to ensure successful program execution and identification of cost, schedule, and quality improvements.
- Lead strategic work placement and Make/Buy evaluations to optimize program execution and resource utilization.
- Support various SAS Operations strategic initiatives with primary focus on development of optimized proposal processes including deployment of cost estimating best practices, development of parametric cost models, etc.
- Provide supplemental technical and process support across SAS Manufacturing sites and suppliers to drive accelerated issue resolution
- Assist programs in proactive identification and mitigation of risks/issues that could impact overall program execution.
- Provide DFX support during the design phase on critical assemblies.
- Support strategic plan development providing inputs into strategic goals, capital plans, and special project needs.
- Recommend new products, processes, policies, standards and operating plans in support of program execution
- Work proactively with site/sector Operations leadership, program leadership, and Engineering to collaborate on the implementation of best practices and issue resolution.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Minimum of 12 years of Manufacturing experience in roles of increasing responsibility and leadership.
- Experience across a variety of manufacturing capabilities including electronics manufacturing, mechanical assembly, system integration and test
- Deep knowledge of manufacturing best practices and strong understanding of processes across all Operations functions
- Ability to obtain a security clearance.
- Effective communication skills and ability to engage employees in support of acceptance of new practices and concepts
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and prioritize work effectively.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with cost estimating best practices
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with core Operations IT tools including MRP, MES and PLM systems
- Excellent and effective written/verbal communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
